We didn't need to invade Draenor

General Discussion
The area the Dark Portal is in is like a crater or something. We have mages and shaman and stuff. Why didn't we just fill it with lava, and surround it with very big explody cannons and call it a day?
Why don't we just take the portal, and move it someplace else?

Like the bottom of the ocean!
Agree Alenthea, just move it to the bottom of an ocean, or facing a mountain, top of a huge cliff lol etc.
because... Green Jesus?

Right. Dropping a portal on top of the worst of the Old Gods wouldn't be unsafe
Or into one of the volcanos we have from Cata!
I kinda feel bad for those people still in Outland, they are literally stuck there now, aren't they?
Pretty sure it can't be moved. The ending of WC2 made it appear as though there is now a rift in space at that location, the portal just uses that rift to connect the two worlds.
they invaded azeroth derp

So we need like a cosmological seamstress to sew it up.

Just like when you get a rift in your pants.

Don't worry they got the tempest keep and the draenie to crash land them back to azeroth!

So, as the OP suggested, fill it up with lava…
Why didn't that guy in the movie "Speed" just shoot out the tires of the bus as soon as he knew what was happening? Because, if he had, "Speed" would have been the shortest feature film ever.

Hey, the devs should have just ended WoD as soon as it started. THAT would cut costs a lot:

"Hey look the Dark Portal and bad orcs and alternate universe, oh noes!"
"Nuke it."
"Oh yeah, okay, good idea."
BOOOOOM!
"Okay done. Hey wanna take a selfie in front of the crater?"

One reason could be that they knew where this portal was and could pass through it. Seal it up and they might open another one where nobody is expecting.
No, you have it all wrong. We don't need to move the portal. What we need is an IRIS. So when they come through our Starga... er portal, they splat. With no way to warn the army behind them, they will all die.
Just stopping by to say that lilligant is my favorite pokemon..... Carry on.
The reason why is because Khadgar wanted to stop the orcs from setting fire to the sun. I mean that doesn't even make sense. The sun is just a big ball of fire, setting fire to it is kinda redundant.
They should have built another portal right in front of it. That way they'd run through and right back into Draenor. Those dumb Orcs would be so confused they would have attacked themselves thinking they were the bad guys.
