As you might have seen in the latest update to the 6.2.2 PTR Patch Notes, our current plan is to release Patch 6.2.2 on September 1.

Please keep in mind that this release date is not set in stone, as we are continuing to iron out bugs with 6.2.2’s content, including some related to enabling flight in Draenor. That said, we are optimistic that we’ll be able to have everything ready by then, so we wanted to share the current plan. We know many players -- us included! -- are excited to take to the skies above Tanaan Jungle and the rest of the Draenor continent.

While some may not agree, I think it is a very good idea to put that qualifier in.

Reasonable people will understand if something happens now as long as ya'll are straight about it. Unreasonable people are going to be unhappy no matter what.

Good luck with the patch. I hope it all goes smoothly.
Thanks Lore!
Thank you for the info and the qualifier.
Well Thanks I guess, it doesn't really matter at this point since there is no need for flying... But okay.

Thanks for the info Lore and for being a good CM by posting a good deal and understanding our concerns. I have to ask though, can we please get some sort of assurance that it will not take almost 10 months from launch to have flying in Legion?

When we see things like the devs saying, "We are happy with the way flying worked in WoD," it tends to indicate the same very slow model will be used. Certainly almost no one is actually happy with how flying played out in WoD. Please don't repeat the same experience with Legion.

Was that really so hard? Now I'm not blaming you personally, but can this be a new trend from Blizzard? Most of us aren't children. We understand things happen that cause delays and whatnot. You being upfront, giving us useful information but also providing a "Hey, things are in motion and this might not happen as/when we say it is." is a whole hell of a lot better than "Weeks not months" and then "Well we never said that xD".

Please continue talking to the community like this. You'll find that a lot of the negativity you receive will simply vanish.

Lore, thank you for the clarification, but a word of advice - this should have been included in the announcement post, not buried in the 40th page of a different thread. While reasonable people understand that things change, it's not unreasonable to see "Patch 6.2.2 arrives Tuesday, September 1." (the first entrance of the announcement) and assume that's a pretty firm date.

If things are still in motion, it would be better to qualify the subject and message a little so that people can infer that this is a target, and not a hard date. For example:

Change "6.2.2 Patch Notes- Patch Arriving September 1" to "6.2.2 Patch Notes - Scheduled for Takeoff on September 1!"

And change the first line from "Patch 6.2.2 arrives Tuesday, September 1. Once live, players with the Draenor Pathfinder achievement will be able to take to the skies of Draenor." to "We're putting the final touches on patch 6.2.2, and if all goes well, players with the Draenor Pathfinder achievement will be taking to the skies of Draenor on Tuesday, September 1st. While we're optimistic that we'll have everything ready by then, please understand this date is not set in stone."

This puts all the information up front, so you can better manage the expectations of your community.

Thanks as always for your efforts, and for keeping us in the loop.

When someone is obviously making an effort to improve a situation, a little graciousness and encouragement in return does no one any harm and may do a great deal of good.

I am impressed you put in the effort to find the next time Sept. 1st is a Tuesday (or the ability to figure it out) but have a little grace.

Well, you're you, so something as simple as that would be massively impressive.

I did show a little grace.

I didn't say September 1st, 2026.

So, what's the real story? A day or so ago, the post was "Well, we had a release-ready version of the flight patch, but then we decided to add a bunch of other miscellaneous junk onto it, so we will skip 6.2.1 and just go to 6.2.2". Now, there are allegedly still "bugs" with flight?

Blizzard, brush up on your Rules of Acquisition. Rule 60: Keep your lies consistent.

Aside from that, I do appreciate an actual planned release date for the patch. Thank you, Lore, for posting it.

Lore you know this is BS. In the LATEST it should've been yesterday...

You could have enabled the flying patch and have another patch for merc mode and the coding for the new mounts and such.

Edit: But I do appreciate the communication.

Unideal news is better then no news and false hopes.
