Lots of Frost buffs in 7.1 on Wowhead!

Mage
Hey all,

Lots of buffs to Frost in 7.1 in the PTR notes on WoWhead. Flat damage buffs to Frostbolt, Flurry, Shatter (maybe) and more.

Hopefully these aren't just tooltip corrections and actually reflect Blizzard assisting this super underpowered spec.
They're tooltip corrections. The only actual buffs are Brain Freeze increasing the damage of Flurry, and the T19 set bonus buff.

Guess Frost stays bad in PvE DPS and maybe kinda playable in certain comps in 3s.

Independently of what went on the PTR, they will likely have a tuning hotfix the first week of EN.
They've specifically come out and said they aren't really doing balance changes until raiding comes out. They did a good job making everything somewhat equal in WoD between frost/fire/arcane at least until the end of the expansion. I am confident they will buff what they need to for frost.

With the artifact system, they have really invested into making the classes balanced. Because if you invest all of your time and artifact power into Frost and then decide to switch to Fire...you wont be touching Fire mages who have invested all of their AP into fire. Maybe for raids after emerald nightmare when AP is easy to come by for this first round of traits...but for emerald nightmare you are really investing into your AP.

A lot of it is just numbers adjustments especially for ST..but for AoE I think they need to do two main things:

Buff frozen orb damage considerably
Make blizzard hits reduce FO cd.

This way we can have some sustainable AoE and good burst when it comes to large mobs. The only thing they need to be careful of is not making blizzard part of the ST rotation if it will end up keeping Frozen orb up longer.

Not just the damage...the way it functions. It is SOOOO difficult to get the full potential/effect of it with it's broken mechanics.

Lol, the worst is in some cases (mostly while levelling/soloing outside) when everything is in melee range, it goes through the mob in front of you and aggros random crap in the distance.

Fortunately doesn't happen TOO often, but when it does....

Wait, you mean that Blizzard is waiting until they have significant actual data rather than going off hearsay, QQ and sims? You mean all those statements they made about tuning not being finished yet and that we'll see a lot more tuning in the next few weeks are true?

Seriously though all this QQ must be the result of Blizzard removing Arcane Intellect, because there sure have been a lot of stupid posts about low dps etc in the last few weeks...

Mages (and OP classes) will see further tuning in the coming weeks once Blizzard can see how they're actually doing. Their design motto is to have all 3 specs within 5% of each other so we can choose the one we want rather than what is "best", so I fully expect everything to be balanced out in the very near future.
