Blizz: get rid of healing and tanks

OP has limited amounts of free time yet they play a mmo. That doesn't make any sense. MMO's require time. If you don't have the time to wait for a dps queue then play another roll/class or don't play MMO's.

I tried tanking a few times and I hated it. It is just click click click. Zero strategy.

Actual tank here, there is strategy in tanking for content that actually matters. For queued content (reg/heroic dungeons/LFR) and lower premade group (reg mythics, low M+) and even higher that one out gears just basic thinking will get one through.

Give us a break blizz. Delete tanks. Keep healers and make everything better.

Better idea, you don't want to wait? form your own group and get to the dungeon yourself. In pre-made groups there can be 4 DPS and a healer, 5 DPS, 4 DPS and a tank, any combination that adds up to 5 is an option, just a question on how fast they can clear the content.

If it really bothers you to wait, try making friends with a few tanks. Oh, wait, with this post you likely alienated all good tanks so would only get the ones you would call bad who would then quit tanking and add more time to your queue.
You don't have to have a tank or healer for anything as it is. Ive seen more than a few 5 dps groups running mythic plus with various levels of success. So instead of complaining form your group up and head out, give a new challenge to the game for you.
I may be alone here, but I would love to see MORE affini-types than the holy trinity. Tank, Healz, DPS, Support, and Adaptive. I could elaborate but i'll save you all from the wall of text.

What we need is variety; not further pruning.

EDIT: I Love tanking!!
Alright, alright I get the point! You guys all love healing and tanking. Fine. I just wanted to do a gut check and see what the community really thought about this. I'll accept that, next time I'm waiting and waiting. But my point is still valid if people love healing and tanking so much why are we all waiting so long for a healer and/or a tank to join when you only need one each of them.

Maybe I'll watch some YouTube videos on tanking with my DH.

But still lots of you are whiny wankers thinking everyone is trolling you when he just wants some opinions. I have only been playing a little over a year and this was my first real non technical problem post. What a buncha babies. Seriously.

The reality is, that for every 3 dps in a group, there's 4-5x more that are queued up and waiting. Ever try listing a raid in LFD and specifying that you ONLY need a tank or a healer in both title and description? You get 20x dps applying for the raid for every tank/heals that applies.

Both tanking and healing roles are stressful in comparison to dps roles, since so much of the party/raid's survivability rides on their shoulders. There's also a higher skill check involved in both roles, whereas dps just needs to press buttons and dps at least happens... not good/exceptional dps, but damage none-the-less.
Blizz, please remove everything except mailboxes, which must be always full of big loot and shinies. I have no time for all that other nonsense.
So everybody will be happy, including Elves, which will still have something to dance on. :)
Blizzard: the time has come... get rid of pruning...

I spend most of my time in game sitting around looking at my spells. What exactly is the point???

Just let people play blizzard... I only have so much free time and waiting around for even less spells seems like a giant unnecessary waste of time.

That is all.

We aren't babies. We are expressing our love of Tanks and Heals. Your the one whinning like a baby. Since your ques are 3578345634634 minutes long. If other DPS can man up and take the long ques like myself on my alts. So can you.
Cuddles my blood spec, but i like being a vampiric tank

I play a healer and I have to say that I agree (kinda), instead of getting rid of them, take a leaf from Guild Wars, where there is no 'Holy trinity" as you can make your player the way you want so no need for dedicated Healer / DPS / Tank specs...

Just a thought that would help with queues for everything and yes I know I will get flamed!

You have two options here - Make friends so you don't have to sit in queue or learn to tank. Good luck.

Second: lets break it down to how many classes can perform each role-
DPS=12/12
Tank=6/12
Healer=5/12

Now it is time to take certain things into account:
  • Not everyone who plays a tank/healer class plays as a tank/healer
  • those that love to tank/heal only do so for guildmates/friends
  • the tanks/healers want a break, either as an alt or off spec
  • those trying to learn how to tank/heal get chased away by those who make the D in DPS stand for derps/deaths who then have the gall to lay into the new tank/healer instead of helping them get better
  • All of these things cut into the already limited tank/healer pool. If DPS really wants faster queues then maybe, just maybe, they need to check their vitriol at the entrance and work with the ones they get instead of being like "it tok me so long to get in, I want a fast run so I can get back in queue". To DPS that bag on tanks/healers then complain about queue times, I only have this to say: the real problem lies in a mirror. To those DPS that treat tanks/healers with indifference, if not respect/gratitude but still suffers from the queue times...Sorry, but the bad apples brought this on you all and it is up to the DPS community as a whole to fix it so that times can become reasonable for all.

    YOU NAILED IT!

Now I Blizz made it that you didnt need dedicated Tank / Healer (I love healing, I suck as a tank!) it would be easier!
To me, the problem with healing is that it's often unnecessarily stressful. It's not as forgiving as tanking and dps roles. A slight delay in response or improperly timed heal could mean someone's death. Also, you inherently end up burdened with attempting to compensate for the mistakes of others.

For tanking, I personally simply don't enjoy the facesmashing through everything style of gameplay. And I especially hate how almost every group only cares about blazing through everything in a blur. AoE fests are boring. I also have trouble getting lost in the pile of mobs and losing targets. 'tis why I tend to avoid playing as melee.

I still wouldn't want the roles eliminated though. An rpg just feels dull without class roles of some form. I wish there was a hybrid or utility role in WoW groups. People joke about it, but I'd love to play a bard type class.
Found this on Ten Ton Hammer and figured I would share....

Obviously not the same for WoW, but would solve a lot of the issues with "Your DPS isnt high enough, kick!" "You are a crappy healer, Kick!" "Tank you are squishy or you pulled everything, Kick"

    .............................................................................

    Soldier Professions

    Professions: Warrior, Guardian and Revenant
    Armor: Heavy

The soldier profession is for those who want to stand right in the frontline of battle. Soldiers are in the thick of battle and work hard to control it, avoiding damage, supporting allies, and dealing the pain right back at their enemies. Control is critical to both soldier professions, even though they are not “tanks” (as there is no holy trinity of tanks, healers, and DPS), they are still hearty and their playstyle focuses on not only dealing damage, but mitigating it.

If you want to stand toe to toe with the enemy, then the soldier professions are perfect for you. Thanks to the combat system, both professions are not exclusive to melee. They can also act as ranged professions utilizing rifle and bow (warrior) and Scepters (guardian).

    Adventurer Professions

    Professions: Ranger, Engineer, and Thief
    Armor: Medium

If being a heavy hitting heavy armor wearing close combat specialist isn’t your thing or casting magical spells with the flick of a wrist, then the adventurer is probably for you. These professions are slightly squishier and are are primarily designed to deal high damage while bringing some utility. These are the unique and fun professions that don’t lock themselves into either “melee specialist” or “magic specialist” and instead focus on their unique profession mechanics. Adventurers fall in line with rogues and hunters from other MMOs.

If you want to wear medium armor and focus on things like bows and firearms, then the adventurer is right for you. They focus on both close combat and ranged combat and use a variety of weapons, with a heavy focus on ranged weaponry.

    Scholar Professions

    Professions: Elementalist, Mesmer, and Necromancer
    Armor: Light

These are the magic users, who focus on ranged magical attacks, although like with everything in this game, they are all capable of specializing to be close combat specialists. Think wizards and mages from other MMOs, but with a unique flare. Scholars are very capable at supporting allies and dealing high damage.
Every MMO I have ever played its always been a chore finding heals and tanks for a group.
No blizzard, let's do one better and get rid of op. He has no reason to be here.
the healing and tank roles are really outdated, thats why all the other mmorpgs have hybrid classes that can do everything

Now this guy at least gets what I was talking about. I'm just saying Blizz needs to come up with a way that EVERYONE can try "healing" or "tanking". It should be easier so more casual players can ease into doing it when the healer or tanker classes are in short supply. As it is now I would never, EVER even TRY healing or even tanking because of all the negative jerks who would kick me immediately from the group. As it is, I only stopped getting kicked as a DPS about 2 months ago. That is quite a learning curve!

Some folk's comments today - about how they love playing healer and tanks - did help me appreciate it when I was waiting and waiting tonight for one of them to join. I'm glad you like the game and the short queues. I just think things could be tweaked a bit to make it more friendly and a little less exclusive.

To those who told me to stop playing just because I wanted to discuss this... geez! Quite the tolerant ones! Wow!
