Gameplay Tuning on the Broken Shore

Over the first couple of days since players took the fight to the Burning Legion on the Broken Shore, we’ve been keeping a close eye on Nethershard acquisition, and making adjustments as necessary via hotfixes.

We’re rolling out hotfixes that make the following changes:
  • Enemies around the Broken Shore will no longer drop Nethershards by default.
  • Enemies in the shadow of the Sentinax will drop Nethershards.
  • Nethershard rewards from Rare Elites on the Broken Shore have been increased.
  • Nethershard rewards associated with Sentinax portals and beacons have been greatly increased in a hotfix that just went live.

Legion Assaults, coming on Tuesday, will also be a lucrative source of Nethershards.

What we want to avoid is a Timeless Isle frogs situation, where mindlessly grinding a field of mobs is the most efficient thing to do. To be clear—we’re not trying to take away from what players are doing, and we definitely don’t want to make your adventures take longer. Overall, our goal here is to make the Broken Shore more rewarding, improve Nethershard acquisition, and ensure that the objectives on your map generally indicate where you’ll find the best results.

Thanks for playing, and we’re really glad to see you out there defending Azeroth!
This does not however, address the gating issue. where is our patch? we wanted a patch, not a grind designed to keep us busy for a week

downvoted because people don't like negative things. doesn't change the fact it's true, they gated off content without telling us they would until after it was out. we were promised this huge patch on the 28th, got one hour of content and were told to wait for more next week. I'm paying to play now, not later.

  • Sigh....
you are failing me greatly, you don't want the "adventure" to last longer? THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING!
I haven't even really farmed any shards since Divine Storm doesn't work.
Did the Treasure chest spawn rate get nerfed with this update?
Hi Ornyx, has the been any changes to mob tagging? Not really fun camping portals and not being able to loot anything
So unless you are one of the five to tag mobs at Sentinax portals, even ones you spawn, or right next to rares that die faster than new scaled mobs in Stormheim, you are screwed at getting nethershards in any real quantity manner. Doing daily quests and killing the mobs for those quests will no longer drop shards. Seems like a real solution, not!
Fix the tagging issues so we can actually want to be there and fight the legion.
Remove faction tagging and 5-player limit tagging. Just let us kill things.
umm what.. please tell me the mob capping thing is changed too? If not, this is going to be a nightmare.

You do not want players to mindlessly grind a field of mobs, so you intentionally change it to where players are going to mindlessly grind a field of mobs.

    Okay...
How about we get a fix to Divine Storm before worrying about nethershards?

    Okay...
Faction tagging hurts Sentinax portal farming since they can be tag stolen by something else. This has not been addressed.
The reason people are grinding random mobs is because the 5-player tag limit makes the Sentinax ship an exercise in frustration at best.

It's only going to be worse now. I don't even want to think about game performance of that area either.
    Good change, thanks for listening.

But please remove faction tagging from the portals though.
Not bothering until the ridiculous hunter pet/bodyguard tagging bs is fixed.

This should be a community event not another stupid race to steal tags from other people.
I suspect when the invasions begin the mob tagging will be the same. Nobody will get any shards in any decent numbers. The only mob of the invasion that will be cross faction/no player limit, will be the final one before the ship scenario begins. So nobody will want to do these invasions. Didn't the devs learn from the pre-expansion issues with invasions where they had to patch things multiple times. One such patch made the invasions a ghost town until another patch.

Come one Devs, get your heads on right and do some thinking BEFORE you roll this stuff out. Think about how it will affect players and the rewards for doing this repetitious content.
