Should wow be F2P?

F2P always results in a reduction in new content so that art resources can be shifted to making items for whatever cash shop model they decide to go with.

I vote no, and wish F2P didn't exist in any MMO.

Basically, the P2W cash shops are where most of the development resources go, leaving little to no development resources for art, design, and gameplay outside of that.
As long as we're all guppies and keep giving blizzard our money, it'll be a subscription.
To summarize this thread, the OP doesn't understand F2P or subscription models, and doesn't understand videogame economics.

This is pretty much the conclusion I drew as well.

Anyone else here feels like this game is no longer worth 15$/mo?

Not trying to start the good old "wow is dead debate"

But I am just saying, is the monthly fee even necessary anymore?

Do people not understand how businesses work, or are they just blinded by their own desires so much that they don't understand the ignorance of this line of thinking?

Regg and I just concluded that Zewarlock doesn't even understand anything he's talking about.
I don't think it should be F2P but something somewhere might deserve a little price reduction. Either with the expansion or the monthly sub. Perhaps up to 60 F2P? I dunno. However, I do know that a lot of veteran players no longer sub because of the cost compared to other MMOs that are rising in popularity that have either a one time buy OR monthly payment.
At the current state of the game, no it is not worth it to me, thats why ill probably unsubbing if TOS does not blow me a way. If it is just more of the same . Honestly with the amount of RNG there is, it feels like it has a F2P element to it.
I haven't had to pay for a Blizzard game since the D3 vanilla AH. Glad balance tokens came out just after I finally ran out of D3 money.

All Blizzard games are now essentially F2P for players that have the resources.

I do agree that WoW hasn't been worth $15 a month for awhile though.

Yes..if you want new content.
What about B2P? Buy to play? Guild Wars series did it and has been pretty damned potent, and I don't THINK it has a pay to win system, but that could be me being stupid.

For those who don't know, buy to play is basically buying the game to play it, kinda like how single player games work, only you buy it, boom, no sub to worry about. But then, It doesn't seem to have the sheer mind-bogglingly gargantuan level of COntent WOW does.
I ve been asking this question for some time ... esp. times of content drought and all the FANBOYS come out of moms basement.

I wonder if all the dislikes are from wow staff.
I could go either way, because I know I'll still be playing this game regardless. I have no qualms about paying $15 a month for this game, but I wouldn't lose any sleep if it went f2p either.
One of the main reasons wow IS worth playing is because it has an even playing field and the only reason it has that is because it is on a sub. If they removed the sub they might as well just shut the thing off.

F2P games always gut their content,so if blizzard EVER goes that route, its basically going to be the basic of basic stuff,to fully unlock the game you will need a sub

And this would be different from Legion how?
Fel no!

You should check out Dungeons and Dragons Online. I think you'll enjoy buying dungeons so that your character can run them.
MMO's that start with a sub model tend to go F2P when the profits aren't really there anymore. It must still be profitable for Blizz to have WoW stay with the sub model or they would have changed it or just given up on the game. So, I think it's safe to say, some people think it's still worth the sub.

I don't know that going F2P would make WoW better. It would definitely be different. Many things could end up locked behind a paywall and I'm sure that would take some getting used too. Maybe they would do it right, maybe they wouldn't. They would have to figure out a way to keep people pouring money into the game somehow.

I think this was a troll post, but think of being on a free account and not able to raid, not able to do dungeons, basically the ONLY thing you would beable to do as a free account is basically be out in the world and level.........that's a normal free to play game, they gut 90% of what you can actually do without an actual sub
