DDOS Attack

General Discussion
you heard it here first.
So other than pissing us all off, what is the point of a DDOS?
seem like it's over , my ping back to normal and able to load battle.net again

Some sense of revenge for people who get banned.

That is assuming that this even was a DDoS attack.
Still in queue.

i heard it on twitter first.
I still can't view armory pages, and this would explain my horrible D3 lag.

No playing D3 would explain your horrible D3 lag

It's probably some retaliation for this

I don't think so.

From my research the DDoS was instigated by an XBL groupie in retaliation for some slight Blizzard did against his favourite XBL team. It's hard to tell exactly what Blizzard did as his tweets are a tiny bit hard to understand.

Which is little upsetting as there is no Xbox version of World of Warcraft - only Overwatch and Diablo 3. Meaning the attack never was against Wow itself , just against Blizzard and Battle.net and we were just caught in the crossfire :(

So Blizzard, this supposedly high tech company, still cannot stop DDOS attacks on their servers.

I'm sure the right people have taken notice of this already.

Blizzard isn't a high tech company.

Their a small, indie company.
I've never understood when they say the attack is against some network providers. I though it was a direct attack against blizzard servers?

nub, please. The forums weren't even operational for quite a while for anyone to see this. I heard it on reddit first.

Private servers like Blizzard's aren't that easy to hit. Most endpoint servers like that have DDoS mitigation going most of the time, if not all the time.

There's no need to target those points though, when would-be attackers can instead target the backbone nodes through which most of their incoming traffic passes.

If you don't want traffic on a specific road, you don't have to jam that road. You can also jam the intersections that lead to it.
