WOTLK/MoP Class Designs

General Discussion
I cannot stand the current state of classes. Next expansion, can you just give us a hybrid of WOTLK and MOP abilities for our classes?

Do it. Please. You know you want to. You know we'd LOVE it.

We'll shower you with money. Lots and lots of it.
Damn I posted this on my DH. The irony.

Still you get my point.
Yeah, it's kinda strange that my fire mage suddenly forgot how to cast all those frost and arcane spells he'd been casting for the past decade. Yeah, I get it, fire mages are all about burning things, but that doesn't mean I'm useless when it comes to casting other schools of magic.

EDIT: I'm assuming that at least one of your grievances has to do with pruning and tying previously baseline spells to certain specs. Apologies if that's off base.

RIP elemental mages, a frost/fire hybrid that a lot of mages loved back in the day. Was hella fun.

Pretty much. I mained a hunter.

Serpent Sting - Damage over time
Scorpid Sting - Reduced Strength/Agility
Viper Sting - Drained mana

On top of that, Chimera shot did various effects depending on my situational sting active on target and it hit like a truck, while sometimes causing a bleed effect. I loved it.

I loved snake trap. Glaive toss was hella fun in MoP.

My aspects
Aspect of hawk - If I was zerging
Aspect of the monkey - Dodge chance if a melee got on me
Aspect of nature - boosted nature resistance against druids and shamans
Aspect of pack - boosted my partners' speed
Aspect of viper - mana regeneration

What I loved about WOTLK's talent system, is it didn't "lock" me into one spec, as you mentioned with your frost locking you, preventing you from casting fireballs. I still had all my 6 aspects, 5 traps, 3 stings REGARDLESS of the spec I chose to roll. That ensured, my gameplay as a hunter was always maintained throughout all the specs I chose.
I still miss the old talent system *sniff*.

Subtle point differentials and build customization are what define an RPG in my mind. Shockadin was super fun.

The pruning was just fuel for the fire. Talk about cookie cutter.
Blizz:
"We don't want people to be cookie cutter specs, so we'll turn your talent trees into Prime Glyphs and you'll all be cookie cutter anyway! How's that sound?"

Us:
O.o

o.O

That would mean accepting feedback.

In an expansion beta.

That's worse than blasphemy.
Nah, thanks. I would rather have anything over that. Wrath was a mess, kinda still similar to Vanilla, too much junk that do too little. MoP kinda oversimplified a bunch of stuff. They weren't bad, but not that great in terms of proper options.
Wrath Paladin's. That is all.
No thanks I want fewer abilities. Keep your fun out of my WoW.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go sit in some lava since that's the only way I can light myself on fire now days and feel satisfied.

We got 12 classes that have damage/defensive abilities colored and animated differently. That is it. Differences are very minimal. That's why they lack the RPG elements they once did, and that's why class identity/utility is dead.

It was junk, if you were a bad player.
Stance dancing is what separated the good warriors from the bad warriors.
Skill gap doesn't exist on the scale it did.

There's a reason why PvPers praise WOTLK and MoP so much.

It's because classes had depth, were unique and hell of fun.

i forget all about death and decay when i switch to frost. it's weird man.
Modern "specs" are more like "microclasses". You can't just be a baker who happens to specialize in pies but can still bake other things reasonably well. You're a pie specialist and pie specialist alone, and in fact have to choose whether the pies you bake are apple pies or cherry pies. Because you know, an apple pie baker could never bake a cherry pie. NEVER. And a fruit tart or dinner roll? Totally out of the question.
I think Cata and Mists there was more class fantasy then there is now.
We had more abilities shared among all specs now what we have is spec fantasy and to be honest it's not as fun .
Sign me up, ill buy 8.0 right now if we could have TBC class philosophy.

Wrath and MoP are typically regarded as the most fun tho, I would also be happy with that.
Can I just have bear hug back on my tank druid.
While I do enjoy that I have less abilities cluttering up the UI, I hate that so much depth was lost with that.

But you never were forced to have all your abilities on the action bar; if it was something you didnt use, simply dont bind it.

This is the sole reason why pruning never made any sense.

I may be a crazy Legacy fanatic, but I would love to enjoy playing my characters again on live too!

We had it too good.. we didn't appreciate what we had!
It feels weird using death and decay while in unholy spec. It doesn't feel unholy it feels more blood. The class fantasy is stronger in the new specs than ever before.
