Boats in SW to Teldrassil in Vanilla?

General Discussion
There were no boats in Stormwind in Vanilla. The Alliance Port on Eastern Kingdoms was Menethil Harbor. It connected to Auberdine and Theramore. Auberdine then connected to Teldrassil
As others have already said there was no boat to SW. If there had been, there'd have been no need for the nightmare run through the Wetlands to Ironforge from Menethil Harbor.

Happy fun little tidbit. The Tram was originally supposed to run to Darnassus. That's why it runs the direction it does and goes through all that water.
Did the run at 20 on my druid just after I got cat form. I honestly dont remember if I had stealth at that point or not, but I had a buddy run me from Wetlands to IF. That was where all the cool kids hung out. It was the only city with an auction house for Alliance.
My very first experience with death runs was on that trip from Theramore to IF. Talk about a scary and nerve wracking run.

So many angry dinos and crocolisks.

I also remember running my Horde alt from Undercity aaaalll the way down to Stonard just to see if I could do it. That was a crazy trip full of death runs and really, really angry mobs in Searing Gorge and the Burning Steppes.

Also, remember the fishing quest you'd get which would send you to a lot of high level zones to get rare fish? Man, that was interesting. Trying to find a piece of land where you could safely stand and fish was great.
No. I remember running this toon all the way to SW to level with a friend who rolled a human. I died a lot in wetlands...and I am pretty sure it was uphill both ways.

nope before SW harbor all NEs had to run the wetlands gauntlet to reach IF and this was back when there were no level 20 mounts

the wetlands gauntlet the unofficial rite of passage for all fledging nightelves if the crocs didn't get you the murlocs would ahh good times lol

I did this one better when I first started. I wanted to figure out the trip from Teldrassil to Stormwind myself, without asking for help or looking it up, so I didn't know about the Tram and couldn't get past Dun Morough. I then proceeded to cross back over to Theramore, run across the Barrens to Gadget, take the boat to Booty Bay and then run all the way from there to Stormwind. This was all as a low level newbie. Needless to say I died; I died a lot.

The scary white ape would get you if you went through booty bay.

This info is so cool! Twelve years later and I'm just now finding out why the tram went underwater. Always wondered about that.

Thanks for sharing!
No. Back in vanilla, you had to get someone with a 2-person flying mount to take you from Stormwind to Menethil to catch the boat to Darkshore.
I made that run so many times on alts those crocs defiantly have had there fill of night elves just trying to get to ironforge.
I'll never forget the Wetlands run of Terror.
I just had a sort of flashback of trying to get a nelf druid to Booty Bay so I could use the then-neutral auction house and sell myself some gold, so to speak. So the 60ish friend who was going to help me out popped onto his own feral and escorted me...and an unusual sight we made, a high-level tauren cat looking after a 20-ish nelf kitty. He was a good bodyguard, I aggroed like crazy but I got there without dying even once. :)

*facepalm*

Yeah, I -wish- we had the luxury of flying mounts in Vanilla. That was a BC perk, not a Vanilla perk.

The SW Harbor was created (I think Pre-patch Wrath). So no. There was no way to NE territory via SW. Only via Wetlands.

Ah the memories. But I want my NE to level in human territory! Make that dangerous trek by foot! to Iron Forge then to SW.

I started in BC, and as I leveled up I was also made a recruiter for my leveling guild. I realized that we hardly had any elves since I met people in the EK, so I asked for directions on how to get to Darnassus to expand our pool. My GM told me how to get to the Wetlands, and the boat to Auberdine...

I didn't know the /who list existed until I was 70 for months xD

It was still a cool adventure and a nice experience though, and I confused the hell out of a couple elves I passed on my way lol

There was no harbor in Stormwind in Vanilla. The only boat access for Alliance in Vanilla was Menethil Harbor and Theramore.

Not this Night Elf, though come to think of it she made have also had to do it, but I remember running from the Night Elf area, having to go through Menethil Harbor (which was hard at very low level), on to Ironforge then I believe taking the tram to Stormwind? All of my friends were playing around the Stormwind area.

We had no mounts, of course.

This character was started when that main was level 50; I think she still did the same thing.

Those were crazy times. I was used to doing it, before release, since I did it in the beta. The final beta client was the release client; I've never installed Wow from a CD/DVD, the client I was using at the end of the beta was the final release client minus a very tiny patch when retail came out (so if you had the beta client already, you were more patched up than people installing from retail.) Then I was in the beta for Burning Crusade, so no install there, as well as the beta for Wrath. Then I think the digital downloads came, which I jumped on, so I've never installed Wow from a CD/DVD.
You would go to grolgrim and fight your way on to the blimp. then you could jump off just offshore as it didn't go into ogrimarr back then. then you would swim / run to ratchet, then take the bird to theramore.

or you could just go to booty bay -> ratchet -> theramore -> boats

on the north side there was a never-ending walk around through the wetlands to the harbour -> boats

i remember water walking potions were cool cause you could get to booty bay by running on the water from westfall

..and then only in outlands

When I was alliance I escorted quite a few Night Elves from Menethil to Ironforge, once they got there it was as simple as using the Tram, to SW.

Two person mounts, and flying didn't exist back then
sw didn't have a harbor in vanilla.

Back then it was auberdine > menethil > death run thru wetlands > loch > dun > if tram to sw

And it was a run. No mount. Most likely you were taking that trip between lvl 10 - 20. Couldn't mount back then until lvl 40. And most likely you were too broke to afford it at 40.

oh the memories of using my spirit wisp to my full advantage going from one graveyard to another just to speed up time. Plus the exploration XP was nice.
