I do think Blizzard could communicate with us players much better in many ways.

However, many players try to twist "communicate" into "change their minds by spam threads".

OP asked
05/24/2018 12:58 PMPosted by Dandelowise
So where's the communication on ML change feedback that has threads on this site and multiple other third party sites with thousands of posts?

The change and the reasons for it were made. It was communicated even if the answer is not what you want.

WoW isn't designed by committee. Ultimately someone has to make design decisions. It's not us (the players).

That's not communication. Blizzard addressed none of the concerns players have about it. The reason they gave for that issue was just a blatant lie. If you would actually read the post I linked, you would see how Riot addresses all the complaints and concerns people have on the new system. They don't just come out and say we are right, you are wrong, deal with it...which is the entire point of this thread.

yet every time a blue puts something out on the forums their words are twisted into a promise and if everything doesn't go down exactly like it was said by a blue everyone calls Blizzard a dirty liar.

take the recent "pathfinder will require both factions" issue, Ythisens came to address it and said "part one will not require both factions" since the screen shot linked said "BfA pathfinder part 1" and people started flipping out and tried to twist it around to be "pathfinder part 2 will require both factions".

blizzard can't win. they talk to us and we twist their words into some random promise. they don't talk to us and we get all annoyed that they don't say anything.

More communication in general would fix this. More quantity and quality.

So you need to define communication when you use the term so we all know what you mean. They gave a reason, they don't need to defend it, you don't need to agree with it. That is communication. Sometimes, "I am right/you are wrong" is completely and totally correct and true and is indeed proper communication.

Examples of non-communication in Legion are everywhere, I just don't agree with the example of ML. That they have (apparently) automated the name release system was never said until after the fact and never released in a patch note. Many undocumented/communicated changes throughout the expansion -- like when they tried to slip in scaling gear levels (which led to back and forth communication). The issues with Blizzard choosing to (apparently deliberately) break the search/post history function here on the forums is a good example of bad communication.

Lots and lots of examples of no/bad communication.

Although separate issues, two of the reasons Blues get mobbed and misinterpreted whenever they post are:
1. they post so infrequently, and
2. because of how certain Blues have split the hair so fine in past.

Players have learned, because of how certain Blues communicate, to take what all Blues say for a grain of salt, and to parse every single word and phrase to the extent of their meaning.

I'm not sure it is a recoverable relationship but an increase in the frequency of Blue posts, and having Blues post in game direction discussions, would help the players:
a. learn how each Blue phrases their posts to understand the positive limitations of Blue comments, and
b. reduce the feeling of players that they "need" to respond to a Blue post hoping for that mythical direct response to their individual concern.

Granted, there are some requirements on forum denizens like stop going off the proverbial deep-end at a minor statement, and ensuring they make articulate and well reasoned posts for Blues. But they are at least partially based on individual effort from seeing Blizzard take some semblance of interest in player comments, which right now seldom appears to be the case.

And yet, they feed into that. Is it that they are looking for an excuse not to communicate with us, because they know players won't like what they're planning?

Yesterday they clarified the BfA pathfinder issue by stating, after a week of blazing rumors based on an achievement that had been designed to require players to play both factions at max level in order to complete part 1 of BfA pathfinder, that actually it was going to be possible to complete Part 1 without 2 characters on different factions.

This was not a typo or a bug. Someone went to a lot of trouble to set up the achievement that way.

And in the end they have left open other questions they could have answered in the process, questions that people have a legitimate interest in knowing the direction devs are planning on taking. How many parts will there be? If playing 2 max level characters of different factions is not necessary for part 1, will it also be not necessary for part 2? Approximately when will flight be unlocked?

Customer relations were irrevocably broken by devs during the wod flight debacle, when they lied to us repeatedly, telling us they had not yet decided what to do, then later admitted they never planned on bringing back flight. And the announcement on an obscure website on a Friday before a holiday weekend was the last straw for a lot of people.

They have chosen to have bad relations with the customers by lack of basic honesty shown over and over again.

As ye sow so shall ye reap.

That is because they have lied to us so much in the past that they cannot be trusted. They should expect by now to be called on the carpet for everything, because that is what kind of track record they have with us. >.<

LOL ? yuucckkkk

ive never gotten the appeal it looks like somthing you find from a windows browser based game. How can you possibly compare it to a blizzard game.
Ya well more than 70 million registered users, and as of 2014 they had 12 million daily active players, and 67 million active monthly players. Probably more now, and it was released in 2009, so that means it is not yuucckk for a whole lot of people. Those are numbers this game will never have hahaha.
I like the way Digital Extremes (Warframe) does communication. Weekly Twitch streams with the devs where they talk about their plans and interact with the community. These streams are actually a lot of fun! I used to legitimately set aside time for these streams and enjoy them with a glass of wine. They're full of information. They play the game while they're talking about it. They'll play with the playerbase. I enjoy them more than Blizzard's occasional Q&As. Josh is fun.

Oh. So this is not about communication.

This is about "communication on a few cherry picked issues". I am sure I could cherry pick some issues on the Riot boards they have not instantly responded to.

Thanks for showing me quickly not to take this thread seriously.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Blizzard is bad at communicating....on select issues!!!!!!111

Do you understand the concept of the term cherry pick? Because sure doesn't sound like you do. I picked recent examples. I'm not going to list out 100s or 1000s of items Blizzard has been silent on as I don't have the time for that.

But thanks for letting us all know you are just here to flame and troll as opposed to actually trying to read anything.

Yet I gave you half a dozen examples of things they have communicated on in the last 24 hours.

But because they are not the specific topics you want..they don't count? Is that it?

"Blizzard doesn't communicate or listen to feedback!!"

--"Well here are 5-6 times in the last 24 hours they have communicated, and two of them are about class changes from feedback"

"Those don't count!"

yea because a BETA is not full of bugs or visual issues. stop trying to find issues when there aren't any.
Honestly, negativity breeds negativity.

If you berate someone into communicating? Ain't gonna be a nice conversation.

We want to treat the Blizzard reps like garbage and get spoon fed peeled grapes on demand.

Want communication? Be worth talking to.

They already have addressed the ML issue and said it's going away, and why they're getting rid of it.
Just because you didn't like what you heard doesn't mean they didn't communicate it.

Blizzard - please take note of how Riot interacts with their customers.

Yes. And ignore them. LOL is nothing like WOW. Nothing. Blizz doesn't have to pander to their player base, nor should they. WOW is a RPG game with a deep story. If you don't like players not getting to decide how the game is made by complaining loudly, go play LOL.

Are you serious? Yeah, you're Crepe, you are. lol

There have been countless threads where posters have been decent and had long and meaningful threads on issues that have gone on for long periods of time with no answer, I'm not even talking about current "events". If daddy Blizzard refuses to acknowledge and bluntly ignore player issues for months at a time how do you expect players to respond?

Sometimes all it would take is a blue to pop in with a generic comment just to show the playerbase that they are actually reading what is going on. The vast majority of the time we don't even get that and you know it.

It is clear you do not understand what a bug is. Either that or you are deliberately misrepresenting it to advance your own agenda. Let me explain something to you. Bugs break things. They do not write their own very specific text and create linked multipart achievements.

I believe, clear, concise and unambiguousness works best when dealing with hot issues like flight. Something like this would have went over much better:

"Players will only be required to complete all of pathfinder on one character, and one faction, and it will activate flight for all characters on their account, regardless of faction."

If a mean-as-Hell old jarhead like me, without a college education, and who is completely unsuited for the customer service business can speak clearly and plainly, representatives of Blizzard/Activision have no excuse. Some of you that have your head stuck in the smelliest orifice of your body may feel different, and you can feel free to roll over to your computer like and old used tire and type something to defend their poor customer service model. I am right.

if the multi part achievement was not properly put in AKA being faction specific (like they stated).. it's *gasp* a bug!

Beta is beta for a reason bucko.

i could definitely go for this if blizz would do, i might actually use twitch then lol. seriously though sounds way better than what we got now. they don't want people being toxic or whatever yet it is kind of hard not to be sometimes when you go to your class discord or whatever and hear the people there that do all the work for your class and all you see is just how bad it is and see nothing that it will be better, just complete silence from company sure don't help people getting mad.
