No Directx12 for Nvidia at pre-patch clarification please!

Technical Support
Just was reading the BFA pre-patch launch notes and saw "Please note that AMD and Intel GPUs will default to DX12, while NVIDIA drivers will remain at DX11 with the option to update at a later time."

Is this something that will be ready by launch? Or planned to be ready for 8.1+?
This is because nVidia doesn't support DX12 on all their GPUs.

There is an easy fix:
Wait for Pre-Patch cause this won't work before then.
Hit your Start button and type dxdiag and check your DX version to make sure you have a card that supports DX12.
Navigate to your install folder and find the file Config.wtf.
Open it with a text editor like notepad.
Find the option gxAPI in Config.wtf and change the text D3D11 to D3D12 to enable DirectX 12.

There is a known issue with some nVidia cards (GTX1060) that can cause some odd outlines around characters.

Hope this helps you out, if you're gaming may all your loots be phat.

Oh I was under the impression we wouldn't be able to enable it at all.

I'm assuming we are just waiting on Nvidia to release the game ready drivers to support DX12 for BFA?
Actually it is even easier. This seems to be based on a misinterpretation of Blizzard posting this:

"Please note that AMD and Intel GPUs will default to DX12, while NVIDIA drivers will remain at DX11 with the option to update at a later time."

This means that the default will be DX11 and that people who update to the latest drivers can simply change the setting to DX12. This was done to protect people who have not updated their drivers.

See blue post here (it's a sticky up top): https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20765936511

Finally, users on NVidia cards may notice that they are running in DirectX 11 mode rather than DirectX 12 mode on launch. Please make certain that your drivers are up to date. You can then change your DirectX mode from the Esc>Settings>Advanced menu.

Double quoting this for visibility - thanks Polgara! Couple other of things to keep in mind too. Not all graphics cards have DirectX 12 support at all. Further, you must be running Windows 10 - it's the only Windows with Dx12 support.
Exactly what I needed to know, thanks guys!
