No Alliance in War Mode

Why would increasing the bonus for alliance cause them to drop out.

You incentivize the minority group to play. The reward exceeds the risk and more alliance starts playing.

At some point you stabilize at a certain level of participation based on the increase in bonus.

Now if Horde gets out numbered the reverse would be true as well.

It’s the “can only change once per week” that would ensure the Alliance stays out forever.

Bribing players does not change the core problem that the mode is not fun.

Some players will sign up just for the bonuses, but as they find the odds tipping even more against them, they’d find those bonuses worthless with no way to complete content. And then their characters are worthless for a week.

War Mode is terrible. And you may be able to make the incentive big enough that players are forced to turn the mode on.

But you can’t make them participate in it.

horde just out number alliance, its not an issue with the server sharding. its literally an issue of just horde>alliance. I have been looking into this and hardcore players prefer horde over ally because their racials are just better pvp and pve wise.

the horde have taken 2 racail nerfs over 10 years, meanwhile the alliance has had every race beside worgen (base races not allied) nerfed. its just ridiculous and stupid that they didnt decide to balance the racials first before introducing warmode.


Gnomes and Dwarves have the strongest racials in the Alliance, yet are the least represented. It has nothing to do with power, it's all about ego, which the horde has too much of it and this WM is feeding even more to them.

The cycle continues. Nothing really you can do about it.


Blizzard needs to make incentives for the outnumbered faction to turn on war mode. It's flawed the way it is right now.

This is too true, and too ignored.

Horde racials are not better, by a large strecth. Ally racials were better by a very large strecth at 1 time, and when that happened all the horde went Ally.

The reality is, and Ion just flat out said it in a nice way. The alliance is filled with causual questers, who want to be human good guys. It's been that way since vanilla it's never going to change.

It's something they are working on but as I said before I don't think rewards will be enough to turn War Mode on. I just feel that that particular 'circle' does not have any appeal to WPvP.

It needs to start (and has) with the community. What really needs help is how to encourage massive WPvP battles with servers inability to handle such major battles.

That's what they really need to work on.
If Blizz balanced populations and WM by allowing conq points per kill, I do think we could see a change in player behavior and mentality:

Solo (with no other tag): 5-10pts*

*Bonus to solo killing assassin: 25pts

Solo (with tag % of dmg/heal): 3-5pts

Small grp: 1-3pts

Grp (5+): 1pt

There also needs to be a diminishing return on killing the same player to avoid acct farming.

Or some variation to conquest that encouraged solo/small grp engagement and discouraged players wafflestomping in raids.

Right now, there is 0 drawback for Horde to create a raid and zerg solo alliance players, camp spawn pts with a +8-20grp. There is also minimal incentive for Alli to turn on WM.

If they want to change the point system to a currency that provides scrolls/pots/gear/pets/mts/etc. that enhances WM experience, even better.

Blizz needs to balance what attracts players to wPvP (solo/small grp/raid), while also discouraging those same players from the current imbalance by implementing a rewards system that corrects a clear problem.
