Sharding for the first couple days at launch only makes sense. Don’t be stupid

It's not unexpected. I mean, yeah, I'd prefer that laggy, spammy, annoying start, but I doubt I'm gonna get it.

As you've noticed, the Classic Demo does have realm sharding. This is to let as many people as possible experience it without technical issues such as server capacity or spawn density getting in the way.

Longer term, we know how crucial it is to the Classic experience for you to see your friends when you walk into Stormwind or when you’re helping them on a quest you’ve already completed. And there should only ever be one Kazzak on a realm, no matter how many people are waiting for him to spawn.

We’re still looking at how we can best deliver an authentic Classic experience at launch, and in the weeks and months that follow - both in terms of gameplay and community. You won’t see phasing (which is tied to specific quests that don't exist in Classic) or cross-realm zones (which combine multiple realms together) in Classic. However, realm sharding is one of the best tools we have to keep realms stable when hundreds of players are swarming the same initial few zones and killing the same few mobs (like they will be at the launch of Classic). To that end, we do believe that some form of sharding may be helpful, especially in those early days. But we recognize that a cohesive world is critical to WoW Classic and are committed to bringing that to you.

No to sharding/phasing. The product promised is not the product delivered.

Blizzard said vanilla means vanilla, and as usual you are not listening to the demographic who want to play this game.

I personally will never play a Blizzard game again if this stays.

Smacks highly of hypocrisy to me... Later on you'll see your friends but out of the gate you're taking your chances...
Yeah.. If you're gonna have sharding... I'm not playing this...

Your not the target demographic

Anyone that wants to play World of Warcraft is the target demographic.

We WANT the starting zones to be a !@#$ show, its part of the experience.

Experience in 2018 = Constantly crashing and not actually playing.

Does no one here remember all of the RAGE on these forums every expansion with terrible launches?

Either way, Blizzard loses, however sharding for the first couple days(at least in the starting zones) will produce a more stable community for the classic servers in the long term., with no sharding afterwards. Even if there's no sharding, the forums will be flooded with people complaining how they can't play, how classic launch is awful, etc. .

No sharding at launch will cause issues with server population in the long term, which is a much more greater hit to your classic 'experience' than actually being able to play and not constantly crashing.

Just shard low level zones until people dissipate to other places, it should all be fine.

Hundreds of players trying to play and enjoy a server together and phase in and out while trying to kill a few mobs. Completely unacceptable.

Please don't do this. Please don't add sharding.. even in the beginning. I can't believe you all are even considering this.

speak for yourself. sharding for the first week or two would be fine with me. but it can't be a perma thing.

Yeah these complainers who come from Private Servers make no sense. The options are sharding, enhanced mob density or simply getting nothing done.

Sharding is literally just spill over so that things remain stable. Its a completely fine and obvious solution. Private Servers also did this AS WELL as increased mob density. Blizzards take on this is actually better than what private servers are doing. If you want to go back to a WORSE version of what Blizzard is doing in protest of sharding/mob respawns for private servers offering sharding/mob respawns, then I am afraid you are ignoreable and make no sense.

The real question is if they are considering this just to balance servers in the short term during spill over of server capacity or if this will be something they want to go with long term. By Lores words it sounds very much like the former. Nothing to worry about.
Its a demo. A lot of the stuff is clutter left over from the legion client.

The phasing can be explained by the sheer number of players trying to play the demo. Its smart. There are only so many servers. Hopefully it will be gone in the actual game.

The increased regen could be because they want us to be able to play within the time limit. If we had to spend so much time eating we wouldn't get anything done in the time limit. I wish it wasn't there to make it more accurate but it could also be left over and not taken out yet.

As far as how fast we are killing things? Did you notice your level compared to the mobs we were killing? We out leveled the content. In Classic when you get to westfall you won't be 15. You will have those quests well before 15. You won't be killing a group of 4 on a rogue like I was. (Evasion ftw).

It's a demo guys. This is NOT a finished product. We still have the Classic Panel and the WoW Q&A. I'm sure some people will ask questions about it. I do wish they had said something about it rather than let us panic. Give it time.

Don't abandon ship until the game comes out. Don't listen or even give the trolls here attention. It just encourages them.

What are you going on about..of course you'll be in Westfall at 15.
level 20 is the good level to do DM.
Even at level 18-20 you still need a group to do the pillagers and that last bunch of defias up in the hills behind moon brook.

This has got to be a joke...Blizz has completely lost touch with this community.
If you guys aren't looking to make an authentic replication, just scrap this project.
Lol. I called it days/weeks ago.

Their architecture cannot handle dedicated servers. It's a relic of the past.
