While we're at it, please also remove the high level herbs, fish, and mining nodes so people who come to av actually f'ing play AV instead of having a dozen people on each side afk and farm resources. Replace them with an AV resource to buff your faction.

Gotta remove mob experience as well.

I leveled 2 characters ENTIRELY from 51-60 inside AV so I'd passively get the rep as I leveled.

I think the big concern for the older AV (which I also heavily prefer to the 1.12 garbage that's basically the same as live) is the marks system... You'd get 1 mark for losing, 3 marks for winning, and those marks where used as currency... In the old AV system those marks would be insanely scarce because games could literally last from Tueday---> the next Tuesday maintenance without a winner.

That would be a challenge to properly handle.

Weren't the marks in the Burning Crusade patch?

Marks were in vanilla, but they would only reward honor. TBC made marks MUCH more important, as they were the main currency used to obtain PvP gear.
I never did AV pre-1.12.

I hate PvP with a passion, but I might poke my nose into it as a healer, just to check it out if it is different.

Healing in vanilla felt great in PvP. Just make sure somebody's helping you deal with rogues, otherwise you're gonna get ganked a lot.
The original AV quests at the very least still exist in BfA. I know because I have one of them in this character’s quest log. It draws its map marker correctly and everything.

If they still have original AV quest data in BfA, they probably also still have the old NPCs and possibly its items and spells. With all that, you’ve got over 90% of original AV… the rest could probably be reconstructed from videos and screenshots and such.

EDIT: Something else worth noting is that non-NPC data for the original pre-1.8 AV map without pieces cut off can be found on any one of the numerous vanilla WoW discs floating around on ebay and on the internet in ISO form. It’s not everything Blizzard would need to bring old AV back to life in Classic, but it would give them a starting point – most of the missing pieces can probably be generated/extracted from the map data on disc.
Bumping for an AV that is actually fun!
1.12 AV is a rush fest nonsense without literally any NPCs who can harm you
Early AV is one of the reasons that I really loved Vanilla WOW. It was a culmination of all of the skirmishes we fought across the server.

It only popped once in a while, but it was an epic battle. Tactical decisions mattered. Inching your way across the bridge in front of the Ally base (I was horde) was a battle fought inch by inch. Summoning bats and wolf riders at the right time to punch defenses was awesome.

Ivus turning the tide in the field of Strife, escorting NPCs out of trouble, it had great depth.

I still have a steamsaw blade on my mage, which if you weren't lucky enough to play then, was a quest item that was used to get a ridable shredder.

When AV was turned into just another zerg BG, it lost its sparkle, and WOW has been less for it for all these years. Returning AV to its epic glory would be a cornerstone for making Classic a vibrant game that will last for years.

Absolutely. If nothing else, Classic has the opportunity to be a stable PvP environment that keeps people coming back for years.
I don't know what version of AV I started to partake in during Vanilla but I do know that I DO NOT want the watered down version that I always referred to in-game as, the "PvE zerg fest" that it turned in to.

When I started doing AV, we had to collect mats like, blood, armor scraps and 1 or 2 more that I can't remember and then turn in to certain npc's at our fort and once we had turned in enough, we could summon a massize boss that would simply destroy the enemy players and whoever summon their boss first always seem to win.

God I can't wait lol.

Hey Blizzard. Give us Classic on Thanksgiving weekend so we can play through winter while it's cold out(well, at least where I live it'll be cold lol). I got a lot of Motovlog trips planned for next summer :(

Let's see, in one hand....Motovlog trips. In other hand....WoW Classic. ***Starts pulling hair out*** I'M NOT GOOD WITH THESE TYPES OF DECISIONS!!!

Sorry, I'll sit back down lol. Carry on.
as long as AV has its EPIC long back and forth battles i am good. Only battleground that felt like an actual war.
1.7 would be perfect
i'm very much hoping for the old AV. I'd be happy with either of the versions that lasted for days. When I came in to classic I was on the version that lasted for days but had been already toned down a few months before I started playing. I'd love to see it as it was originally designed!
I was hoping for the ORIGINAL ORIGINAL wide map and the ORB that both sides raced for in the cave mid map, one person carried the orb and dropped it if they died. this concept came back years later in a different BG of course.

Alterac Valley MUST take one of its earlier forms. It's up for debate which version was "the best," but it cannot be the version from the end of vanilla with lower health and fewer NPCs. A restored AV is my #1 desire from Classic, so I'll be extremely disappointed if we get a nerfed version.

It won't be as they clearly said 1.12 was the earliest complete data set they had.
Oh yes I loved the ones that took days with quests, summonings and fun times.
