How is the new forum going to work?

General Discussion
My question is this. Why are they investing the man power to fixing the forums when they should be investing that manpower to fixing the problems with the game. When they fix the game problems all lot of the angry toxic posts will decline on their own.

Because the people who work on the forums are not the same people who work on the game.

There's more than one guy named "Blizz" who works in Irvine.

Just like the Overwatch Forums.

Well the OW forums do not have green text, even though they have an MVP who started as Tech, but is pretty much an overall MVP now. He is green on the old forums, but not in the new format. That is why I said we don't know how tomorrow is going to go with regard to forum features.

Green and Blue text aren't really features. They are identifying flags. They shouldn't be needed. Especially since there is a Blue Tracker in the new system.

I can't wait to make fun of people with higher post counts than me.

You've all been warned.

It'll actually be interesting to see which one of us gets their posts counts up the fastest.

Rep grind for the Forums Faction now?
I guess I have become increasingly worried about this, as there's conflicting reports over how much we are going to be allowed to say and contribute and when, and all of this sort of stuff, and to me that's a complete mess.

In my honest opinion, I feel this forum as it is, is moderated quite well, obvious troll posts/threads eventually get locked or deleted and so on. So to me if something is not really broken, why are they trying to fix it?

I guess while I won't be crying about obvious abusive and nasty trolls not having a platform to speak, the problem is this is subjective to a lot of people; to me, I might make a critical comment about a certain ideology, belief or so on, but I always strive to never make it about the individual person on the other end of the screen, that's my general moral compass. That you can criticize a political/religious ideology or whatever, but as much as you possibly can, don't attack the individual person.

Of course some people get offended by general statements, which makes it difficult; for instance, a statement about 'casual players' to me if someone bags out casual players, this doesn't offend me because the simple fact is someone I choose to be a casual player, sometimes I don't. So when people come here saying things like 'lolz all these casual noobz have ruined the game with all this LFR BS' I don't care, that's their opinion. If they want to support their opinion with arguments as to why, they are welcome to do so.

The difficulty though is that I am a little concerned with Blizzard's behavior recently with the whole Diablo Immortal fiasco in trying to hide the downvotes, and there's even this rumour going around the internet that they didn't let Asmondgold on camera at Blizzcon as he was too much of a political liability and things like that. I mean it's not something I'm crying a river and building a bridge over, as I think Asmondgold is a turd, but that's not important, if the rumour is try that he went to blizzcon and they banned him from getting near cameras as they didn't want to be seen as 'associated' with him, I think that's a dangerous path to walk down...it's kind of funny though, when I first started playing wow, people didn't want to associate with me because of their 'in-game reputation' but these days I haven't had guildies complain about such a thing; I guess I was always too proud to care-as far as I was concerned, I was GM, I was God, so only my opinion of others mattered, not their opinion of me lol.

Hmm, perhaps I am over-reacting, I suppose it's a personal choice and the right of a company though...I mean I don't let guildies in my guild if they have a name that I consider too adult or porno as I don't want perverted people in my guild and if you call yourself 'sexyhotelf' that's going to attracted perversion imo...so to a degree image and reputation matters I suppose...

What do you think?

I am curious about this, how is it going to work exactly, they say you will be able to 'post more often' if you are good, but what does this actually mean, does this mean that when we start we will have a limit on how often we can post??

Also, are the good MVP's like Bluespacecow and so on going to still be around as MVPS? We need them.

When we started playing this MMO, (personally in 2005) our sub covered using their Forum’s, now they are going to throttle back “that usage” also.
Perhaps it’s time I throttle back my sub, say permanently.

Conflicting ?

There's been no official word on what the Trust levels are and what you need to do to advance them.

The Code of Conduct for posting on the forums hasn't changed and you can expect the moderators to hold people to that CoC whether on the old forums or the new forums.
I am a little worried that this'll end up being a popularity contest with these Trust Level things...
Limiting posts sucks!!!! What if your in a roleplay and get capped and holding up the thread because you can’t respond? And what if we like to chat in lounges :( I hope this gets removed ASAP.

Yeah just ban the obvious trolls that are out to cause trouble.
Well, this will be my second wipe and "Third Wow Forum."

So I think of it like Einstein's quote:

I do not know with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

I do not know how this third iteration of the Wow forums, which I've experienced in the last 14 years, will be. I do know that the fourth iteration will be.....

ON A MOBILE PHONE!

Where has it been said there will be posting limits ?
Maybe have a moderator to actually look at the forum this time around. The auto bans for bogus reasons are pathetic. The spam threads too should be dealt with faster.
You make a post and i post a meme

Repeat :3

You don't get near the streaming stations without being invited by Blizz in advance and you need a Press Pass. Security won't let you go there without that pass. He did not have a Press Pass. It was as simple as that. He went to Blizzcon at the last minute and did not have the proper press badge for that area.

No conspiracy.
The forums didn't get updated. Is that idea cancelled then?

No. Every single forum will be migrated to the same software. They already did OW back in Feb and HotS this summer. WoW will migrate, it is just a matter of when.
