Who's idea was it to remove Tier Sets?

Tier sets wouldn't even be in uldir anyway you'd need to wait until 8.1. BWD, MSV, HM, and EN did not have tiers. Sooooo not an issue at the current moment, wait for 8.1 to drop

Honestly I don't even care about the set bonuses, I just want class themed mogs.
+1, I agree. Having all armor types look the same is not fun, we should have class themed mogs at the very least.
It is “cheaper” to come up with a bunch of silly traits, throw them randomly into gear and “balance them”, than create implement and balance 2pc and 4pc bonuses each raid tier.

Also, Blizzard can make 4 Armor sets each tier and not have to give us class themed Armor each raid tier.

They’re saving on the technical and artistic side with the removal of tier gear.

WoW is going downhill. This is a PoS in terms of expansions, at least so far.

Bring back tier gear and class themed raid sets Blizzard, I don’t want to look the same as the mages and warlocks.
Azerites are the new tier sets. I mean it's the same concept: Have these certain pieces or your dps sucks !@#
Why dont they involve the community if creativity is so low?

Now accepting submissions for druid tier. Warrior tier. Etc.

Hell they can even use the same set bonuses idc just give me something unique that feels and looks good for the class I'm playing.

Also adds to that carrot on a stick, 3/4 tier set oh man better keep killing bosses.

it was Brian in Human Resources. it's a long story.
It was Peter from Design. I swear it.
Less work, easier balance.

TBH, its not that surprising. WoW is old and I wouldn't be surprised if they're getting sick of WoW themselves. They probably are slowly moving devs to other projects to create something new.

While WoW makes them a good bit, I'm sure they could develop something else that's way more profitable.
once again ive been tricked into paying more for less. I buy tokens btw so I sub for 20$ and I don't even get class exclusive tier sets... and for the record I haven't seen a single piece of bfa gear I am excited about. its all ugly crap like my tmog greens bfa set. looks better than the raid gear but that isn't saying much.

That's actually a good idea, but Blizzard isn't in the mood for good ideas nowadays.

I know Riotgames pays alot of attention to their community when it comes to this kind of stuff, definitely way more than Blizzard. This is why even if MOBA games are also at a decline now they still have a very dedicated playerbase.
Now we have "Tear" sets.
Because people cry about their azerite gear.
Tier Sets mean work.rng means to lazy to do work.

I get the complaints about tier sets, but they were infinitely better than the ugly crap Blizzard put in the game. Uldir armor is gross. Thankfully transmogrification is an option.

Riding the coat-tails of the people who put real effort into making the game great.

Current WoW in a nutshell.
Someone who doesn't play a Demon Hunter, obviously.

Yes, Blizz, I'm so tired of seeing your newest amazing set for DHs. We have so many already.

Also thank you for not making Legion content give legacy loot.
Slots occupied by set pieces or legendaries were effectively blocked from upgrades unless it was a higher ilevel version of the same.

they took the tier sets and talents and put them into the azurite casino system to make it take longer and to add a new loot-diluting reward system to the endgame

and I do hate it

Maybe it's time to retire?

Most of their senior staff has retired (Greg Street, Chris Metzen, and Mike Morhaim etc...). Guess interns call the shots now!

:^)
Didn't it have something to do with Blizzard being able to free up resources that they would use to create the tier sets and using those resources in other more important areas of the game?

That’s possibly the lie that was given. Even if it were true, realistically they’re going to spend far more man hours trying to make the Azerite system anything but a complete and total dumpster fire that they ever would have designing new armor sets.
Well, the azerite armor gives more flexibility (compared to 1-4 chances per week to find a specific armor piece from the set) when you're looking for a specific trait but the way blizzard implemented this system is awful, really really awful.

Until we can change one or two azerite traits using sanguicell/hydrocores or something else (besides balancing and stuff), this system will suck balls.

PD (rant): i still remember doing nighthold with my shaman, more precisely krosus, every effing week and the stupid armor didn't drop (bis). I ended up using the LFR version cuz i couldn't find the normal/heroic version. That's something i'm glad is over.

Sounds like laziness to me.
