To look at it from Blizzard's point of view, do you want people who can't post without using profanity to have the ability to embed links and images? Think about what could be posted. It wouldn't be pretty. So yeah, you have to demonstrate that you're not going to cause any harm.

They define "Profanity" very loosely. Things like @#$%, *****, and *BLEEP* are profanity and will get you temp-banned. I know this because I've been temp-banned from the Overwatch forum for these very things.

You mean like described in the CoC?
https://us.battle.net/forums/en/code-of-conduct/#obscene

Obscene / Vulgar
This category includes both clear and masked language in posts, signatures, and/or links to websites containing such language or images which:

Are an inappropriate reference to human anatomy or bodily functions
Are pornographic in nature
If a player is found to have participated in such actions, he/she will:

Be given a temporary ban from the forums, depending upon severity
While these repercussions may seem harsh, we feel very strongly that this behavior has no place on the forums due to its extremely offensive and inappropriate nature.

Well I have to say that seems a bit over the top.

It's called masked profanity. And that is a violation of the CoC. That's why it's moderated as such on all of the Blizzard fora (it's caught easier on the Discource forum backend thanks to better tools, thus flagged more often in those fora).

I don't care what they are mostly I just in it for the cookies.

Fixed with giggles.

I am my own cookie. Mint chocolate chip flavor too! :)
I like how people are having a melt down over the new forums, and how they may be abused/misused and yet here we are still with this trash silence system. Which acts much in the way the new forums are said to act (enough cry babies report you get silenced/banned/dropped trust/ect)

All you need to do is disagree with the fanboys to ensure your posting privs are taken away much like chat in game.

I refuse to grind forums rep. That's ridiculous. I don't care about anything other than just saying what I want to say here. Sure I try to do that respectfully, but I ain't grinding forums rep for some reward roflmfao.

I'll keep doing what I've been doing regardless of benefits or punishments. Apparently so far I've been fine in the mods eyes.

I think you just need to show you can post within the guidelines that are already being expected of you. That's hardly an equivalent to grinding rep.

For some it is. For some, tying their own shoelaces is a grind.

Interesting. I can't imagine that Blizz would give players the ability to edit each other's posts, but it could be an interesting system

IF AND ONLY IF this was an account-wide trust system and tied to the poster's btag. No more being Mr. Nice Guy with one character and Mr. Troll with another.

Fun fact: I didn't learn how to tie my shoelaces until I was 14. What with being half blind and with a deformed arm, it took many years for me to grow into visual learning. Not for lack of trying though...

I doesn't really matter to me but I would have seen it as someone censoring themselves. I would have thought masked profanity would be like I've seen here where people space the lettering out or hide it within other words.

I had no idea that we were to a point that asterisks or other symbols were considered offencive.

I have friends who have been in trouble once in game, getting a suspension just for killing the city auctioneers in Stormwind, even though he didn't know it was against ToS since it was on a PvP server.

Yeah that's definitely not against tos. If it was, they wouldn't encourage you to raid cities by giving you an achievement/mount.

You only have to grind if you want the rewards, eh? That's whats about to happen.

As stated though, people who have been banned or suspended in any Blizzard game, even as little as 12 hours, won't have the ability to reach trust level 3 to embed images.

I have friends who have been in trouble once in game, getting a suspension just for killing the city auctioneers in Stormwind, even though he didn't know it was against ToS since it was on a PvP server.

He, along with many others who have been suspended or banned for petty reasons, won't be able to reach trust level 3.

I get where you're coming from. We don't want just anyone to embed images on the forums since people can do some pretty crazy crap, but the in-game ban disqualifying you from trust level 3 is ridiculous.

If they follow the same system as their OW forums, you can get trust level 3 even if you have been suspended. Couple people posted about this saying they were trust level 3 and had been suspend before. I was suspended once and still had my trust level at 3. It is down to 2 now cause I stopped going there for a good while.
I hope one of the blues will explain what changes the new forums bring today. Since apparently lore, the yak, and the other orc blue (forgot his name) all decided to take monday off it seems.

It was a national holiday yesterday (offset Veteran's Day). Lots of places shut down for the day. And being as it's 6:21 AM PST currently as of this post, most Blizzard employees are either still asleep or barely waking up to get ready for work.

That's what the wiki feature in level 3 does (you can designate your post as a wiki and anyone can edit it).

Can we now ban Blizzard from these forums? I mean I heard some joke while running Onyxia's lair and I googled the words to the original video. It contained the most horrendous language I have ever heard.

That was in game and not even just the forum. So is the entire company now banned for linking to obscene language?
