your gear doesnt matter for TW. Everything is scaled.

I don't know if either of us has a source for this, but I can't see it being ok to enter TW'ing totally naked.

Interestingly, I've seen this in other games where literally your gear means NOTHING if your level is altered from its true state (like stripping naked doesn't move a thing), but I don't think WoW has this mentality.

As long as the gear you are wearing is Lv70+, you're good. It scales you down to the max gear level that dungeon allows (which is what a Lv70 would find in those Heroics).

I know this, because I got a weapon to drop while in a Timewalking Dungeon this morning that added +20 Raw DPS.

My damage output didn't change because my level and I-level were scaled down, and my old weapon was well above the Lv70 range.

But if you go in there with gear weaker than Lv70 heroics, then yeah, you're gonna suffer.

The reason why you guys are having such trouble is because these dungeons were designed back when CC was a thing, and when you weren't meant to be pulling every mob in sight. You were meant to carefully pull small packs, and CC when you were able.

If you just throw your shield and chaaaaaaaarge in, you will die. Plain and simple. Just like you would have died horribly back when TBC was current content.

Cata is the worst for me, especially as a Cata baby whose first major patch was Hour of Twilight.

I don't remember End Time Sylvanas taking seven minutes to kill when she was current.

I'm a cata baby and I do remember End Time being the hardest dungeon of that expansion. It was hard due to one shot mechanics even with gear from the Dragon Soul patch.
I ran 4 TW last night with my 119 Prot Pally, with Pugs and was mostly fine. The occasional death from not remembering particular mechanics/mobs from a decade ago, or people accidentally pulling stuff.

As long as tank uses defensives pro-actively, people CC, interrupt/stun, and are mindful of positioning/pulls its fine.

I was using my legion legendaries, azerite gear, and tried a variety of trinkets to see how they behaved with scaling. I did make some minor changes to Azerite traits and talents after the 2nd TW.

I don't find this to actually be the case. I noticed on my 373 mage that I was doing roughly twice the dps of anyone else. I'm guessing most people were running 350-360 gear. There may have even be a level difference also affecting the scaling.

Just so you all know, legiondaries and "the cape" still work in TW dungeons.

So does the wod ring!

it only increases your damage by 2% and deals .5% of the damage you dealt as an explosion but hey, it's not on the gcd so just use it with your burst hah

Use the epic version that procs the 15% increase to your main stat ( intellect, agility, strength). I believe it was the 715 ilvl one before stat squish.
Time walking BC doesn't have a tuning issue, people just don't remember how difficult some pulls are. Just got my cap done as tank, and several mobs apply a 70% healing reduction, or sap you for several seconds mid combat and all aggro drops, or cause you to take 75% increased damage, etc. It was extremely fun, and was comparable to tanking a m+ 10< in difficulty (cc'ing mobs, etc). I feel they finally got it right with time walking with tuning.
So what you're saying is, it's like it was back when the content was new, right? Want some cheese with that?

Semper Fi!
I think don't like the time walking dungeons except for the loot if I have an alt that needs lower gear and for the weekly reward.
BC dungeons are definitely the hardest time walking dungeons .... if the tank is not careful in pulling , very easy to get buried in mobs .
I think this is the first time we've seen BC timewalking since stat squish. They haven't been scaled properly, making them harder than Blizzard intends.

Try healing on a level 71 druid with heirlooms if you want to see how wrong you are.

It’s not the scaling , BC dungeons need careful planning to pull mobs.

They are considerably harder this time than in previous BC TW events. Scaling is definitely wrong.

Yea something is different. In BM you can still pull almost the entire zone before starting the event no problem. The spawn waves are no problem. Most of the wave mini bosses are no problem. Temporus with the healer dumping on me and blowing every cooldown I could barely stay up. End Boss no problem. Temporus wasnt like that in legion/wod BC TW.

Mana tombs werent a damage issue to tank, but I was skipping mobs where I swear I've always skipped mobs, and on a boss pull whatever was up in the room and the last hallway came running too. I don't recall having to clear everything in there or it comes on the boss pull. Somethings feel different.

Being X level or X geared, doesn't matter.
The tuning can be weird with some of the timewalking for sure but I think it comes down to a long time with dungeons being faceroll so when the general player base see that it's an old dungeon, they feel it's going to be another faceroll.

I did Cata timewalking drunk and it went perfectly well.

But when people aren't respective of others time as well as super defensive when something goes wrong instead of tackling a challenge then you have bad experiences.

I'm sure there are those that will find everything easy but this isn't a solo run, it's not something you outgear, it's group content.

If you don't work as a group and help each other out, you will constantly run into issues.

Why does anybody care that you did a cata TW at some point before? The topic is how the current BC TW is not scaled properly. Why do so many people talk on something they obviously haven't invested time in learning? Certain mobs/bosses will global people. Other bosses are no harm at all and random mobs are tougher. That is simply broken. Also, lower levels do get destroyed/do no dps regardless of scaling for those who think scaling actually fixes these issues. Quit being so ignorant people.
I'm not sure what all the complaints are about.. I did one yesterday, and after reading the forums was half expecting it to be a wipefest that took hours.

Yes it was a little harder than usual but we just CCd maybe one mob per pack and stunned and interrupted the fearing / hurty mobs.
Group only wiped once after someone was feared into two extra packs, but after that we essentially breezed through it.

Not sure why people want content to be mindless and face-roll easy. Besides its really not hard if you use a bit of foresight instead of just pulling everything.

Eh ... this week (Burning Crusade) Timewalking feels quite overtuned compared to Mists of Pandaria one we had a few weeks ago. Enemies seem to have more health, enemies seem to hit much harder, and tanks are dying much easier despite healers spamming them.

Yep. I'm no slouch when it comes to healing and even when DPS avoids all mechanics (and not taking damage) and I'm only healing the tank, I can barely barely keep up healing one decently geared player. Its overtuned I am 100% certain.
I am going to have to agree, I went in on a lvl90 paladin and the healer couldnt keep me up at all. I am hoping this is just poor scaling and not the healer being bad.

Scaling is definitely wrong. At least 3/5 I got highly geared tanks and 1/5 very miserable but alive prot warrior.

Tell your party to purge his haste. If nobody can or you're running with potatoes who didn't bind the button, yeah that's exactly what you do to stay alive.

And yes, he was absolutely like that back in the day. I was the one tanking him back then -- though at the time the spiky damage was far less of a problem than DPS opening up on the untauntable boss before I was even there.
