Why dosn't this macro work?

UI and Macro
/cast [nomod, mod:shift, mod:crtl] Fireball
/stopcasting [mod:alt]
/cast [mod:alt] Scorch

What I would like is the icon to be the fireball, unless I press the ALT button.

Also when I press ALT+keybinding it stops casting and then casts Scorch.

Any help?
It will never cast scorch like that. You are telling the macro to stop if the alt key is down and then saying only cast scorch if the alt key is down.

Scorch and Fireball are both on the gcd, you will never get them to trigger together

Just do this
#showtooltip
/cast [mod:alt] Scorch; Fireball

Cast scorch if the alt is down, otherwise cast fireball

Slight improvement:#showtooltip
/Stopcasting [mod:alt]
/Use [mod:alt]Scorch;Fireball
Works the same, but keeps the stopcasting functionality if you want to interrupt whatever you are currently casting and cast Scorch instead
I do not understand....

/stopcasting
/cast scorch

This works fine. It stops whatever is currently casting and then casts Scortch

What I would like is for this to all be on ALT and just pressing it dose Fireball. All the "mod" stuff is so the icon is always Fireball unless Alt is pressed.
#showtooltip
/stopcasting [mod:alt]
/cast [mod:alt]Scorch;Fireball

If I'm holding Alt, stop casting and then cast Scorch, otherwise cast Fireball.

Ensure that Alt+Keystroke isn't bound to anything.
For some reason I thought you had
/stopmacro

And you had
/stopcasting

My bad
