Insufficient space while patching to 4.1

Technical Support
The 4.1 patch will require about 9 GB of free space in order to be installed. Even though it's only about a 320 MB download, the space is required for the patch to unpack itself and the installed game files. Then it applies itself and finally packs everything back up.

If you encounter this error, please try freeing up to 9GB of space for the patch on your hard drive.

Permissions issues can also cause these kinds of errors since the patch would not have access to the available space it needs. Please make sure you are running the game as administrator and from an administrator account.

Update!

A workaround has been found for those with extremely limited hard drive space. Please note that this is not recommended unless you have already tried freeing up disk space through other methods.

In order to create the room needed to patch, you can delete the CACHE folder located inside the World of Warcraft Data folder.

1) Right click on your WoW icon and select "Open file location." (or click properties and click "Find target" if you have Windows XP)
2) Locate and open the Data folder
3) Locate and delete the CACHE folder
4) Start the launcher and begin patching.

Please note that doing this will force the game to redownload the cache folder data the next time you are playing.
