What kind of armor should a hunter wear?

New Player Help and Guides
I know I get mail at level 40, but what I'm talking about is the stuff that increases strength, agility, spirit, etc.

I know intelligence is what mages need. I was just wondering which one benefits me and in what way.

Thanks a lot guys.
Answered in your other thread, but you want mail gear with agility on it.
Leather gear with agility before level 40. Mail gear with agility after level 40.
agi > sta >hit/crit/haste
Any other stat is pretty useless.
what about cloth?

what about cloth?

The OP was a hunter, hunters use agility mail. Cloth items with intellect have no benefit for hunters because intellect only grants spell power, hunters don't use spells and prefer "attack power" (a stat granted to them through agility).

YOU are a paladin (at least you're posting with one). And the answer for you will be VERY different than the answer we'd give to a hunter.

Each class/spec combo has a specific armor type, stat requirements, and preferred class of weapons that they will want to be using.

This thread is also very old. Please make your own thread for your own question and we'll answer it there. Make sure you state what class & spec your character is (or will be). Even between specs of the same class they may want different stats (ex: feral druids want agility, balance druids want intellect)
Is stamina benifital?

Is stamina benifital?

it'll help you live a little longer, but as a hunter you shouldn't really be getting hit by anything.

Things will die faster if you focus on your main stat, which is agility.

This thread is extremely outdated, and contains information which is no longer correct.
(hit was removed as a stat, so seeing this information in a thread at the top of the forum is only going to confuse people)

Is stamina benifital?

It's handy for everyone, but shouldn't be anyone's main focus.

Stamina increases your health pool. HOWEVER, while that's neat and all, you should be going for your primary stat first. The three primary stats are intellect, strength, and agility.

Hunters want agility. More agility for a hunter means your weapon attacks and your pet's attacks do more damage. More damage means your opponents die quicker, and thus have less time to dish out damage back to you.

Also, most everything has stamina on it anyway, in the appropriate amounts for the classes/specs that would be using it. So you shouldn't need to look for stamina, just going for your primary stat & gear type will get you the amount of stamina you need.

As a Hunter, Stamina just increases your life pool (Hit Points), so if you have to choose between +Agility or +Stamina, go with +Agility. That being said, if you have an option to wear something with +Stamina over something with about the same amount of Armor but no bonus to your stats (white/grey armor usually), go with the +Stamina armor.

Both +Agility and +Stamina on the same piece of armor is even better, since it makes your Hunter attacks stronger while letting you take more damage before dying.

This is true, and is the ONLY time something should be equipped just for the stamina: when your only other choice is either an empty slot or stat-free whites.

Whats recommended for hunter gear??

Please do not necro a post that is six years old.
The game changes frequently and old posts tend to contain out dated information like this one does.

Better to start a new thread than to put bad info at the top of the new player forum.

Hunter's wear mail with agility. Attack power is an acceptable substitute.
Stamina is useful but comes on everything and is not worth sacrificing agility to obtain.
Spirit, intellect, and strength are worthless stats for Hunter's.

Secondary stats like haste, crit, versatility and mastery don't start coming into play until 80-85 ish and become increasingly more important as you approach 110. The best secondaries vary by spec. Icy-veins.com class guides cover them for each spec.
