Misdirect macro

Hunter
Is there a macro to cast it on my pet?
#showtooltip
/focus [help]
/stopmacro [help]
/cast [@focus,exists] Misdirection;[@pet,exists] Misdirection
#showtooltip Misdirections
/stopattack
/cast [help][@focus,nodead,help][@pet,exists] Misdirection

Will cast it at your current target if you can, else it will cast it at your focus if you can, else it will be cast on your pet.

If you want it just on your pet, take out [help][@focus,nodead,help].
#showtooltip Misdirections
/stopattack
/cast [help][@focus,nodead,help][@pet,exists] Misdirection

What is the code for that text (that's not showing when I quote you)?
I'm not talking about the macro itself.
I'm talking about the code for changing the font in the post like that (in Detroitchamp's reply).

Put [ code][ /code] tags around it. It's the pre option in your reply options.
#showtooltip
/focus [help]
/stopmacro [help]
/cast [@focus,exists] Misdirection;[@pet,exists] Misdirection

this is the one I use, it allows me to set a focus and cast MD on that focus, or if i'm out on my own, it casts MD on my pet.

This way I don't have to have one macro just for my pet and another macro for when i'm in a dungeon group. I just have to select the tank and hit my macro to make him or her the focus and then each time after that MD will go to the tank.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your reply.

I figured it was one of those. But those buttons don't all work properly on my browser.
So I need the typed out command for a lot of that. But I didn't know what that one was.
good lord you people have complicated macros.

/cast [target=Name] Misdirection

Where "Name" is, enter any name you want. Tank name, pet name, off tank name, and the name of the healer that really makes you mad...

If you just want it to target your pet and not have it be any specific one.

#showtooltip
/cast [@pet] Misdirection
Thanks guys! Big help :D
Sort of a side note, You can use Healbot to choose who to MD to. Cool if you have 2 or more tanks you have to switch between with little notice. Just don't click on the healers, they hate that :)

/cast [@pet,exists] Misdirection

Because typing out the name of the tank (into your macro) each time you join a group is less complicated than just setting your focus and hitting a macro?

IDK if it's serenity or Pitbull but one of those two just lets me right-click who I want to MD.

Serenity is the addon that allows you to right-click a raid/party frame and Misdirect to them.

Yup.

Did away with my macros when I found out you could do that. Love it.

Your way is a lot more complicated. Much easier to just set focus on the tank which also allows you to assist the tank like a good DPS should. :)
#showtooltip misdirection
/focus [modifier:shift, exists] target
/stopmacro [modifier:shift]
/cast [target=focus, help] misdirection; [help] misdirection; [target=pet, exists] misdirection

I use this. It's nice for those speed runs when everyone takes off and you barely have enough time to set your focus before the tank pulls.

Select your focus the usual way, click their portrait in the raid/party frame so they are your target, shift left click the macro on your bar, shift left click it again and you're good to go. If it's too complicated, get rid of the middle two lines. All they do is set your focus a little faster. At least for me anyway.
#showtooltip misdirection
/focus [modifier:shift, exists] target
/stopmacro [modifier:shift]
/cast [target=focus, help] misdirection; [help] misdirection; [target=pet, exists] misdirection
There's a fair bit of excess text in that.
Here's the exact same macro but cleaned up.

#showtooltip misdirection
/focus [mod:shift, exists] target
/stopmacro [mod:shift]
/cast [@focus, help][help][@pet, exists] misdirection
