How do YOU pronounce "prot"?

So my girlfriend and I got into a heated discussion about how to pronounce the short term "prot" as in "protection paladin".

I'm convinced it is pronounced "prot" as in it rhymes with OAT, she's convinced it's pronounced "prot" as in rhymes with THOUGHT.

Which of us is right? Help a brother out here!
Prot rhyming with thought is how I pronounce it.

Anything else just sounds silly, and I only ever say Prot around friends, I say Protection anywhere else.
Neither of you are correct - Pr'ot. Hard o.
Prot is pronounced similar to the combination of "crock pot"

I'm going to go with this one. The first one sounds fine when you're saying the entire word, but just saying prot the same way you'd say protection just sounds... odd.
I always pronounce it prot rhyming with thought.
Bloody hell, just how badly do you people mangle Thought to get it to sound like Prot?
Prot as in aught.
Cool story, prot!

But yeah, I pronounce it, pr-ah-t.

Prot as in aught.

This. pah-rot, but as 1 syllable.
I say "prot" in-game for speed and convenience.

I say "protection" out-of-game because not only does it take minimal effort, but it also avoids situations such as OP's.

Also using shortened words when speaking is pretty silly anyway.
Potato, potato.

Just call it a tank =)
Prot as in rot.
For me, it rhymes with 'oat'.

...I have no idea how it would ever rhyme with 'thought', I'm guessing that's an American accent?

There probably is no right way... depends on where you're from....
I always said "Prawt", and most other people I heard called it Prawt, but then my current GM says it Prote (like oat) and I was like wtf, it's prawt, and then I was like protection, prawt....

...and then I was like wait a minute. Prawtection makes no sense.

So now I have no opinion on the matter and still say prawt.
