Bands ppl should know about

Movies, TV and Entertainment
Ever ask your friends if they've heard a certain song from a band you love and they say "who?"

I certainly have, so post here bands you like that you think more ppl should know about, and for lazy ppl like me youtube links are awesome :D.

Ever since I first heard of these bands I wondered why I haven't of heard of them before:

Fragmented Mind

Skillet

Van Canto

I'd love to discover more bands like these, cuz no matter how awesome Metallica is I still like to change it up once in a while. :P
Nightwish.

They've gotten a bit more publicity in the recent years but it's with a different singer. I like her too but it just can't compare to their old stuff.

I actually thought they were more well known than they are but practically nobody I ask (irl) knows of them. I have converted a few folks to them though. Maybe it's just the area I live in?

Listening to your posts. Will come back with thoughts on them in a few.

Edit:

Fragmented Mind and Skillet - Nothing amazing but they sound pretty good.

Van Canto - I really liked that one. I've been a sucker for good A cappella (yeah they have a drummer but still) ever since the days of Rockapella...and if you don't know who they are then

The Beatles.
Seriously, how could anyone NOT know about the Beatles?
Within Temptation.

Some might find their music not to their liking, but to me, it's what Evanescence could do as well, and I love them for that.

Murder -

In the Middle of the Night -

hmmmm... I have to say, Supergrass.... not many ppl ive talked to have heard of them though they were huge in the U.K.
The Beatles.
Seriously, how could anyone NOT know about the Beatles?

they only say "who are the beatles?" just to troll.
Powerman 5000. People always seem to know their song When Worlds Collide but don't ever know the name of the band.

the Melvins are indeed awesome. I have not heard Cormorant or Ripping Corpse but by judging you taste in bands they must be good I will check them out when I get home. =P

Ripping Corpse is some of the best Death/Thrash around (IMO). They only released one album before they broke up but it never gets old.
Isis
Earth
Russian Circles
Fell Voices
Wolves in the Throne Room
Bohren & der Club of Gore
Boards of Canada
Blind Willie Johnson
