Quests
There are two primary methods for finding what quests you have done and what you have left to do: (1) in game, and (2) using a web browser.

(1) In game you will probably want to use an addon because the Blizzard API that tells you what quests you have done is extremely basic, and there is no Blizzard API that tells you what quests remain. Here are some links to addons that can help:

(a) The two addons Wholly and Grail are used together to provide the most accurate quest data:
http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/wholly
http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/grail

(b) The kitchen sink of quest helpers, Carbonite, provides many more features than just the quest information:
http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/carbonite

(c ) For those interested in only quests associated with Loremaster:
http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/loremasteraddon

(d) Another seemingly inspired by EveryQuest, Quest Completist:
http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/quest_completist

(e) For those only interested in map pins for quest givers, QuestHubber:
http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/questhubber

(f) And the outdated, inspiring EveryQuest:
http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/everyquest

(2) If you are willing to use a web browser, you can get a raw feed of quest information from Blizzard's servers using a URL that is formed using your server name and your player name like the following:

http://us.battle.net/api/wow/character/alleria/Nimhfree?fields=quests

Of course this is not very useful for most people, so other sites massage the data and present it to us nicely like:

http://www.wowhead.com/profile=us.alleria.nimhfree#quests

However, even using this information from Blizzard will not provide the most accurate picture as there are quests that cannot be obtained because other quests have already been turned in. These links do not show that type of information since the Blizzard APIs do not return it. This is where external information about quests is required. If you have the quest ID that Blizzard uses, you can look up more quest information by using the proper quest ID in the URL that follows:

http://www.wowhead.com/quest=12345

To get this quest ID it is usually easiest to use an addon that shows the quest ID in game.

And if you really want this wowhead quest information in game, there is an addon called LightHeaded that takes the web data and makes an addon out of it:

Hopefully this helps.
Great post, Questhubber is a nice add-on I used to use when I was hunting for lore in the game.
Perhaps this would be a good candidate for a sticky?
Wow! Thanks for the info. I am a Curse subscriber and will try that out.
The loremaster addon really helped me find the missing questgiver in the last chain of quest in Western Plaguelands. Was an easy download through Curse client.
Anyone else find Wholly freezes upon logging into char? I'm having trouble with this right now as I just downloaded the Wholly Add-on. It froze the second time, and I let it unfreeze itself which it did after 10 minutes, but I don't feel like doing that every time I want to login.

Please submit a bug report. You should be able to find a link from the website where you got Wholly. In testing, normally it takes Wholly and Grail no more than 2.5 seconds to load (which is long for an addon, but Grail has a lot of data).
I was having a LOT of problems finishing up the questlines in Stormpeaks. I never even thought about the quests that start with random drops from mobs. Killed a bunch of mobs, dropped a quest item, started a chain, and ta da! 2 years later, I finally finished my loremaster for Northrend! :)
Hey everyone!

I personally love Zygor Guides if anyone is still looking. It usually costs money but I found a free link. Write back if your interested and I can send u the link. (I'm not posting it cause the guy who posts the guides says that they don't want to much traffic!)
