Sounds simple, however I bet it takes weeks of programming stuff to make it happen. They probably have enough to do as it is.

Just something that came to mind, I'm sure someone has already thought of it.

They'd have to multiply every piece of gear by at least 100+

Or just write a mini program which changes the tint with a slider scale.
Oh god.

Every piece of gear ever would need to be re-tuned with a set color and allocation to allow this to work.

It's only getting worse the farther we go.

While it seems like a simple enough change, in reality, it would probably require a re-skin of every armor piece in the game or an overhaul in the game's graphics system.

Currently, the colors are baked onto the item, meaning that for each separate color, there is a different item in the database.

It might be possible, but it won't be soon, most likely.

I don't think Blizzard's system can do that. The old 2005 base code has its downfalls. :X
While it would be snifty, they've explained previously just how enormous an undertaking it would be, and truly, it would take a lot of manhours that could be better put to use in other areas. I can live without that particular bit of customization in favor of some of the other things that truly need to get done.
EVERYTHING WILL BE RAINBOWS AND PONYS AND SHINY AND SCREAM HAPPYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
"cough"
Everything would be black.

And white, probably. White armor > Black armor.

(I'd love for my warrior to be able to wear a set of white armor...but non-paladin white armor is rare.)

Well then Blizzard shouldn't be in charge.

Oh genius! Then we can get our Robes of Transcendence and turn them purple! Oh wait...

shush you!
They'll fit that in their list of priorities.

Right below the dance studio.

Hey man, I'll have you know I was against the dance studio.

That's a low-blow, I demand you take that back at once!

"I have had this EXACT thought many times."

"I want contact lenses too, so we can change the eye colors of our Toons as well."

I'd like my eye color to be a little less washed-out. :|

I don't think this is a good idea at all. I used to play on Ragnarok Online private servers, most of which had this, and it was awful. The majority of players had theirs either 100% black or a ridiculously bright neon color.
