The new one doesn't work very well, the fan update map worked but not the questing part as much. It was so frustrating playing with the game map last night. The fact that carbonite didn't work made me just want to run instances instead of quest.
Wow-Pro & Tom-Tom are like milk and cereal for questing. That will get you through until there's a new and improved Carbonite.
Thought I'd update this thread with this quote from Rythal (The person behind the fan update.)

That's excellent news. It would be interesting to look at the source without that obfuscation they use.

I hope they OpenSource it - GPL2. This is a good amount of functionality that needs to be in game, and a complete refactor is just what the addon needs.
My carbonite keeps...screwing up and then working. My minimap keeps having a black square on it where the player dot is. The blue box of the addon's name and such in the middle of my screen and never going away. -_- I used to love this addon....but now I am regretting changing to it.

Rythal's Fan update has been removed and the carbonite addon authors have put up an actual addon even though it doesn't work. They just put a bandaid on a bleeding wound for now. I have already put Rythal's Update back on a couple of the systems in the house for the people that use the addon. Here's an updated link to the last update from Rythal. He does have intention of making his own eventually. Here's hoping he doesn't take too long and it comes out in a swift manner.

I hope Rythal just makes his own Addon.
The Highlighted quest areas on the map still don't work in Pandaria with the new 5.05.01. Or is that just me? All I can see on my map are little circles with an X threw it (example: ). The markers are somewhat close to the quest area but still too vague leaving me with having to use the default WOW map.

Last thing I read was Rythal was working on setting Carbonite up as modules. I understand that to mean you can use the parts you want? Be good for the nodes only guy. And I think Rythal is leaning towards keeping the name Carbonite. It does have a lot of history and name recognition. Would be a lot harder to establish a name/rep again. Faatal & Haavok apparently don't play the game anymore. Sad for us but life goes on. Nothing is as constant as change. I will throw money at Rythal if he can get my favorite add-on in working shape. :)

I have 5.04 woking not MOP . it works maps/quests, everything. == only problem I can see. CARBONITE will not alloow a low level toon to uitilize the flying uitility. it procs but will NOT go anywehre. unless carbonine is not installed.

The latest game version is 5.1.0 (or, in my case, 5.1.0 (16309)(Release x86)). I use the US English version.

The latest Carbonite LIVE VERSION (not a BETA version) is 5.057 ( ) and the latest BETA version is ( ).

One of the live versions, for some odd reason, blocked the use of Blizzards Flight Masters services. That version has been pulled and the Flight Masters now work with all of the current releases (both LIVE and BETA).

i went to (copy and pasted) and it told me the site did not exist... I downloaded the copy from this thread and as soon as wow loaded i got the error listed below... and i can't even open my map :(

Poedaren, Rythal is currently working on updating carbonite to work with WoD :-), in the meantime you will need to disable all the carbonite parts in your addon menu.

(make sure to always update your carbonite from the project site, as curse never has the latest version). There is a link on the project site's main page to the support forums, once there, go to the general discussion thread, that's where you'll find any updates on progress from Rythal.
