Azeroth: Why is the Legion still bothering?

Story Forum
After 3 consecutive invasion attempts which ended with their butts being soundly kicked and their boss Kil'jaeden whooped in a most undignified fashion and flushed down the giant glowy toilet, why are the Legion still bothering with Azeroth?

Is it because there are no other planets that possess the power of something like the Well and they need it that bad, or has it boiled down to a pride 'we're not gonna let these insects get the best of us...again!' thing?

You'd think at this point they'd figure there are easier planets to invade and just leave us alone, particularly since both the Alliance and Horde have become so heavily militarized.
They want to destroy everything. They have a religious imperative to do so. Azeroth is a subset of everything.
Because what's a more convenient plot device to force neutrality than "THE DURMENS IS INVADING OOOHHHH NOOOOOOO"

Also generic light vs dark, order vs chaos, etc etc
Blizzard needs new writters.
If anything, they want to destroy Azeroth more than ever. They hold grudges, and we have the world that's been standing up to them three times already. They can't stop now, they HAVE to do it.
I'm not sure that demons are a flaw in the plot.

Pretty much.

They want to destroy the entire universe and have won total or near-total victories on every world they have invaded. This means Azeroth is a serious threat to their endgame.

Sure it might make sense to come back later in another few hundred years when they have amassed far more power. However it's unlikely they know exactly why or how Azeroth keeps beating them (we don't really know either), so it may not be worth the risk to give Azeroth time to rebuild and become a far greater threat.

For all they know, in time Azeroth could grow to such power as to threaten the very existence of the Burning Legion.
I think it's mostly a pride thing. The big bad demons can't bare to think why we, on our tiny little planet, can stand up to them and all the power that they've gathered over the years.
There's also the 'bonus' that the Draenei are there. Kil'jaeden still wants to hunt them down.
Gluttons for punishment.
Man if they have trouble with planets whose level of technology is around renaissance levels they're going to have a real problem when they try to destroy a planet that controls an interstellar empire.
Pandas! They want our Pandas!

That and they're upset that they've been beaten so many times that they have a vendetta against us that'll only end if we destroy them or they destroy us. I'm betting on the former.

Plus the Well of Eternity under Nordrasill is very attractive to their leaders. It'll be a big power up to them if they get that.

I also like to think that they know about the Old Gods, finally, and what brought them to Azeroth. What's under Tirisfal Glades is what brought the Old Gods and now the Burning Legion wants it too. My theory at least.

Magic helps...ALOT. Plus if planets like that exist it's likely the Burning Legion is avoiding them until they have the might to take them out. Or they'll let the Dreadlords take them out slowly.

In the WoW universe it looks like magic is universal. A technologically advanced society would either have advanced magic or would be sufficiently advanced that they don't need it anymore.

Science will beat magic every time anyway.
Plus, if the next expansion is a Burning Legion themed one, and demons can't truely die(outside the Twisting Nether) I'm curious if Archimonde and Mannoroth pop back up and give us a big "Bazinga!"

Eventually. But in the start Magic has a huge lead over technology.
Magic is science.
Wait what?

You all realize that we only beat the legion by blowing things up right? Like a major sacrifice and widespread destruction leading up to it.

The betrayal of the Highborne for Sargeras = blowing up the Well
The betrayal of Arthas for Archimonde = blowing up the wisps and the World Tree
The betrayal of Kael'thas for Kil'jaden = blowing up the Sunwell (we did get it back though)

All of that was to summon their leaders. They can easily just summon a million demons and run us over. That was the fear of the Scourge. That's a possibility of the Faceless Ones.
They're just mad that Azeroth's people have kicked them where it hurts on more than one occasion. They never expected us to stand up to them and win. Plus the Draenei are here, and Kil'jaeden hates us, so that's a bonus.
They just have a personal grudge against Azeroth now.

Yeah.

Kalec says that magic is math in ToW.

The sunwell was destroyed during the Reign of Chaos to revive Kel'Thuzzad, and then its powers contained in a mortal body, Anveena, by Korialstrasz. We didn't blow up squat at the Sunwell...

Another reason the Legion despirately wants Azeroth (asside from pride, and the fact their religion demands they destroy everything) is the Well of Eternity. After it blew up, it became a gentle rain of magic, but it's still an unlimited source of magical power, which we know for a fact the Legion feeds on. If they managed to take Azeroth, they would have unlimited fuel for their armies.
