Getting around 240fps, neither of my 670GTX FTW's exceed 40% usage in WoW. AMD gpu's are sub-par that's your first problem......

I'm struggling to get above 45 fps anywhere when I get 60+ fps in BF3 on ultra. I have no clue what is going on. I built this system last week.

Dezzil,

You're not alone my friend. I've been struggling with this for weeks. Your rig should be KILLING this game, it should be KILLING this game. Wow is not high end graphics, it's cartoony, animation which rigs like yours should be cutting through like butter!

An HD 7970, you should be getting 100+ FPS without even yawning.

I've been trying to tell Blizzard for a month that this is being caused by their 5.0.4 Patch, but so far they simply don't want to hear it.

This is happening on Blizzard's end, it is so d**n obvious.

As I said in my previous post....with my HD 5870 1 GB that's almost three year old technology now, I'm getting 80-85 FPS questing and exploring, and 50s-70's in cities and 40s-60s in dungeons and raids depending on the load......

This is SO not your hardware!

We don't need a graphics card bash thread in the technical support forum. HD 7970 is a high end gaming card and should tackle WoW at 100fps +
Who's bashing, I'm simply stating the truth?
EXACT same problem here.

23fps WITH A RADEON 5970!!!

sigh...Blizzard has really really urked me to looking towards other upcoming companies. I cannot believe Diablo 3 and now THIS. :(

Any fixes let me know Evan.

Kyloth, I'm with you buddy. I've got an ATI HD 5870 1 GB. I'm getting 80-85 FPS in most environments, 50s-60's in cities, sometime dropping into the 40's when highly populated, and 50's-70's in dungeons and raids, depending on load.

This is on Blizzard's end. I have seen about 500 posts like yours all describing these problems that only started after the infamous 8/29/12 5.0.4 Patch. That's when all he** broke loose for a lot of people, for some it started a little while after.

I am luck in that I am not having any FPS or latency issues. However, with my HD 5870, I have been having a game-wide, terrain stutter that happens when I move my character. Walking, riding, or flying, the game skips like a heart skipping a beat. Have tried every known fix, and still nothing. The Blues have been utterly useless. Utterly useless.

I'm just waiting on Blizzard to finally acknowledge this and do something about it.

Today, about five hours ago, I noticed a huge rush of players coming in with comments all lodging complaints against Blizzard in one fashion or another. Blizzard handled that by promptly locking or deleting about ten different threads, in fact they did that to any threads that had anything negative to say about the current situation.

Well I guess that's one way to deal with your customer base when they complain too much.

You simply silence them. What a way to treat the people who pay for your game.

Really amazing. It's outrageous.

I second this reply. Horrorfilm, I understand what you saying. You certainly have kick-a** cards, to be sure...but this isn't the appropriate thread to be bashing or criticizing one brand of card over another. There are positive and negatives to BOTH Nvidia AND AMD cards, BOTH have their drawbacks depending on who you ask.

But this is not the time or place for that discussion.

The fact is, you've got people like me, with an HD 5870 1 GB, that can run WoW on Ultra NO PROBLEM, 80-85+, sometimes less under certain situations, but generally very good to high FPS most of the time.

And Horrorfilm, I don't mean to start an argument, but you are simply being ridiculous if you are calling an HD 7970 a "sub-par" GPU. That's simply not true, and it doesn't help this thread at all to start praising Nvidia and bashing AMD.

I have been using AMD cards for about three years, and my (2) HD 5870's in Crossfire have held up like champs. And I can play all games I own, even Battlefield 3, Napoleon Total War, Mass Effect 3, Lord of the Rings Online, Dead Space 2, Guild Wars 2, ALL on ULTRA settings with high FPS and with absolutely beautiful performance.

Right now, WoW is the ONLY GAME I am having graphics issues with.

And I can assure you - it ain't because of my hardware my friend. Blizzard messed up.
I've had this issue on 2 cards. First one was a Radeon 6750 that got 23 fps on Ultra, which it's been running at 40+ for 2 years. Jade forest killed my FPS, as did everywhere else. My second card (HD 6950), which literally arrived on my doorstep 2 hours into me fiddling with this new problem, gets EXACTLY THE SAME fps on Ultra. There's no way both of them miraculously have the same problem. It HAS to be a compatibility issue with blizzard's new graphical engine. There's no other explanation. All of the Blue's trying to tell us our hardware is overheating aren't understanding what that could mean, or they just aren't saying it; if our rigs, which shouldn't even notice this game running at Ultra, are having to put everything they have into just getting 23 fps, then something is wrong with the game. Like I said earlier, my evidence of this is that 1) I've done everything Blizzard has suggested to this very second, including things on other peoples' threads that could pertain to abnormally low FPS. None of it's worked. 2) Putting all settings on Ultra in the Night Elf starting zone nets me zero shadows. Absolutely none. the SSAA or whatever works great, but nothing has shadows. In the Blood Elf starting zone, there's terrible shadows and absolutely no grass, even when I change ground clutter settings. The place is as bald as Bruce Willis, and none of that happened before this expansion and it's patch. All of our High-End AMD cards didn't suddenly go chest-up all at once and have the same symptoms.

AMD is no where near "top end" in anything. They've been trailing Nvidia for some 6 years straight( due to their awful driver software) any builder will agree. You don't see anyone with Nvidia gpu's complaining about fps :)
I see a lot of people with nVidia GPUs complaining about FPS. I see a lot that can't even run the game due to their drivers crashing every 5 mins
What I want to know is what is so different about your computer /w 6950 and my computer with a 6950. I have no FPS issues. This is Yousel btw

It is the original BIOS on the card because I got it when it first came out

I see a lot of people with nVidia GPUs complaining about FPS. I see a lot that can't even run the game due to their drivers crashing every 5 mins

^^I don't see a single thread about Nvidia 600 series cards having any such issues :)
OP download GPU-Z and save a snapshot then upload it

Post your dxDiag as well
Ok guys well i totally reinstalled windows and wow and game was actually running pretty good significly better until i did certain windows updates if you recently just did some windows updates i suggest doing restore to previous see if that helps changing the core for me did nothing im on a 32bit system quad core not sure if i need to do anything different anyways im gonna do a system restore until updates see if its better
EDIT: CONFIRMED!! Do a system restore until u just made some critical windows updates my game is running good again!! hope this works for you guys!
DO WHAT I SAID ABOVE!! my guildie went from 75fps to 45... did system restore b4 critical update he is fixed.... im at a solid 60fps now after update i was at 23-30

AMD is no where near "top end" in anything. They've been trailing Nvidia for some 6 years straight( due to their awful driver software) any builder will agree. You don't see anyone with Nvidia gpu's complaining about fps :)

:) Yeah, Ummmmm....Horrorfilm, with ALL due respect, you have not been paying very close attention to the threads on this forum over the past four weeks, have you. Didn't think so!

I hate to tell you this, but there are HUNDREDS of players reporting HORRIBLE FPS spikes and drops with Nvidia cards as well as AMD cards. And not only FPS spikes, but people with Nvidia cards are reporting by the HUNDREDS that the latest update is totally CRASHING their WoW when they try to play with an Nvidia card. There are also HUNDREDS of players who are reporting that certain Nvidia drivers are not communicating with the latest patch at all, and all kinds of errors are happening.

I am NOT quite sure where you get off saying that you "don't see any Nvidia people on here complaining about their cards or drivers not working". You need to stop licking Nvidia's boots and pay attention to what people are actually saying in these threads ok?

Which is simply further evidence that this is NOT a hardware issue with player's cards, but rather an issue with Blizzard's MOP Update itself.

Please be careful here, you are on the borderline of trolling, and you are right on the borderline of fanboying Nvidia, and you are doing it quite obnoxiously right in the middle of a thread where it has NO BUSINESS being. We are trying to address and resolve an obvious wide-spread, game-wide glitch that is imbedded somewhere in the 5.0.4. Update ok?

Your interjection of what amounts to, "I love Nvidia and you AMD people suck" belongs on an Nvidia Lovers Forum, NOT on a Tech forum where players are trying to resolve an issue that is affecting players across all hardware configurations and setups.

PLease contribute useful solutions or information if you have them, and kindly stop with the "I think Batman could beat Superman" in a fist-fight nonsense, ok?

EXACTLY!

Unfortunately, we still have some delusional players lurking around who are insisting that this is ONLY an issue with AMD cards!

Again, just the usual old, tired, worn out, trolling and fanboying and bootlicking of one video card company vs. another.

Again, simply arrogant players who sabotage threads and don't even bother to go out into the forums and read what is actually happening.
Are you guys not listening to what i said??? do a system restore b4 u made critical updates your game will be back to solid smoothness 60 fps its confirmed by others
For learning purposes I am going to do Windows Updates just to see if you are right. I haven't done it in weeks, months even

I have found an interesting DirectX 9/11 optional update which I won't do. I will do everything else, test, then do the directx one. I wont do the .net ones either

So far so good. Now for the one about directx,

**No dice, if anything I gained FPS
