Reinstallation Issues

Technical Support
No, I don't think I can connect directly to the modem because of the other computers attached to the router.

Is there another way for me to get a fresh copy of the game installer so I can reinstall?

As it stands, I've uninstalled WoW and cannot reinstall it.
Ok so i talked to them, and they told me to uninstall, i am getting thr exact same issue and i get the Failed to download a required installation file (http://ak.worldofwarcraft.com.edgesuite.net/wow-pod/installdata/win/wow_enus_web_unencrypted_win.blob). Please check your internet connection and try again. error
I've spent hours of my time trying to fix this, and at this point it's getting ridiculous.

Router: LinkSys E4200

Let's make sure the Linksys E4200 is forwarding ports 3724, 1119, and 6881-6999 to your computer's current IP address:

Can't log in to it to check, unfortunately. I'm not going to try to reset it since I'm not in charge of it, and the user name and password I was told to use don't work. Neither do any of the defaults I've tried.

I've never had issues with the installer download from Battle.net before, and I don't seem to be the only person with the issue. Could Blizzard's upload of the file have become corrupt?
There's an automatic file check, so it's very unlikely the file is corrupted. Is there any way you can test connecting straight to the Motorola modem?

Okay, I was wrong about being unable to connect directly to the modem. I'm now plugged in directly to that.

I've tried installing the game yet again and keep getting the same error message that I listed earlier:

"Failed to download a required installation file (http://dist.blizzard.com.edgesuite.net/wow-pod/InstallData.Master.3a/Win/wow_enus_web_unencrypted_win.blob). Please check your internet connection and try again."

By the way, thanks so much for your help and patience so far, Velnrak. :D
Ok, that eliminates the Linksys router as a factor. The next suspect is McAfee. Can you run McAfee's removal tool? This will be just a temporary measure, and I would reinstall McAfee afterwards.

That seems to have done it. No error this time - it's started installing.

I'll report back when it successfully finishes, if it fails, or if I start having the launcher loop problems again.

Thanks Vel! I really appreciate the help.
Awesome, Talothas :)

Yup, it's working. Good to go!

...Now to reinstall FlagRSP, rewrite my character descriptions, and rebuild my UI. <sigh>
I have been having that same problem for the past week. I need help. I tried lots of different solutions listed on other forums. I've been trying to reinstall but that message comes out "failed to download required file. Check internet connection." What do I do? I do not thing it is McAfee because I am not even using it, I am not susbscribed. What could it be? :/
so am I
