"Game is up to date" Launcher doesn't launch

Technical Support
A friend and I were both logged in most of the evening, after a d/c in an arena, he was relogged and upon logging in he said "hey since when is there a patch" - I decided to logout and update.

We both have the same issue. The launcher says game is up to date, click play, the launcher loads, disappears as normal, WOW doesn't launch and the launcher simply reappears.

The friend from skype lives completely across the country. And there are alot of views/posts about this. 500 players didn't suddenly lose administration access to their wow folder. Would appreciate a legitimate response from a blizzard tech. Atleast tell us you know there is an issue and that it will be fixed.

I have tried logging in with the 32 and 64 bit version of wow. I have tried logging in via the wow.exe and skipping the launcher (this simply starts the launcher).

There is no repair tool. I drug the latest patch file out of the folder, launched wow in an attempt to redownload the patch (incase of some random corruption) and then login the game normally, this was unsuccessful, the launcher didn't even notice it needed to redownload the latest patch.

I have taken a look at other posts, I have played this game seven years, please don't link me some BS "FAQ Tech support" link from blizzard.com, please don't tell me something completely retarded like "reinstall the game it will work" or "its client side, try logging into a different windows user account" or "you need to take permission of the wow folder" these are all ridiculous fixes that, aside from reinstall, MIGHT work for one in ten thousand users if by some random anomaly their issue pertains to the specified fix.

Real post. Real answer please.
You can "Force" WoW to repair with this:

Navigate to your World of Warcraft Folder
Navigate to the Data Folder
Delete the Cache Folder
Navigate back to the World of Warcraft Folder
Delete WoW.mfil, WoW.tfil, and WoW.pfil
Delete the Battle.net folder (PC) (Mac) http://us.battle.net/support/en/article/deleting-the-battlenet-cache-folder-pc
Run the game in Administrator Mode (PC) (Mac) http://us.battle.net/support/en/article/run-in-administrator-mode

See if that works :)

Thank you, Illandrisa, your repair fix worked.

No problem! Happy to help! :)
wow that worked! thanks!
didn't work for me.
Am having same issue. Launcher says, "Game is up to date", I hit PLAY, Launcher disappears only to reappear. Game does not start.

Help, please?

Blizz?

Macbook Air 13", latest edition....have not had a problem playing on this since September....until today.
I can get "online", but all the servers show up on a list in red. When I click one I get disconnected. That's from a WoW window that was already open from earlier. I tried on multiple computers and the launcher won't work on any. Wat do?

Didn't work, launcher still keeps reopening
Indeed. And only generic responses from Blizzard that aren't helping at all. I guess all we can do is wait for a few more hours til they notice it needs to be fixed
