Alliance Races Against the Blood Elves

World’s End Tavern: Role-play and Fan Fiction
Hello,

Lore-wise, which Alliance race would you say generally despises the blood elves more than others? Or is there not a good answer to this question?

Thanks.
Draenei, me thinks.
Well, in recent history the Blood Elves, regardless of whatever their reasoning is/was, have done a lot to tick off the Alliance.

Humans likely feel betrayed and wouldn't trust them after they broke with the Alliance during the fall of Lordaeron (I doubt that whole thing with Garithos is common knowledge) and now side with the Horde.

The Kaldorei dislike them on principal since they are the decedents of the Highborne whom they exiled thousands of years ago and still recklessly (in their opinion) practice the arcane.

The Draenei had a serious run-in with them relatively recently in both OL and where they crash landed on Azeroth, though they may be better at distinguishing the splinter faction of Kael'thas' elves from the general Blood Elf population.
I'd say humans would have the greatest grudge against the Elves - despite even the run in with the Draenei, the majority of the race would probably be willing to forgive - especially after realizing that it was Kael's elves that caused the problem (which was most likely made common knowledge during the events at the Sunwell).

With the humans, though, well... humans didn't - and still kind of don't - care for High Elves. Even their initial meeting was more of a distasteful alliance than one founded on friendship and camaraderie. Going back to then the elves saw the humans as strong, but dumb, barbarians who would be a means to an end against the Amani. The humans saw the elves as weaklings and as a means to an end to gain greater power through being taught the ways of magic.

Since then the two sides have been fair-weather allies - with the humans usually relying on the elves to be an ally rather than the other way around - given that the elves founded a lovely home making use of the human kingdoms as a shield wall.

The Second War soured relations even more when the High Elves only gave to the Grand Alliance a token force of archers because of Lothar's call invoking the ancient blood of the Arathi Kings. It took the assault on Quel'Thalas to rouse the elves to true action, and then when the war ended they withdrew from the Alliance again to just be a mysterious group on the horizon.

Them joining the Horde would rankle, but I'm pretty sure the final straw was the Mana-Bomb dropped by the Horde. While it was the Horde who employed it, humans would know it would only be the Blood Elves who could make such a thing. So it stands to reason at this point, the majority of the humans will see Blood Elves as bad as orcs.

As a note, though, just because a majority hate them doesn't mean all humans have to hate all elves. But mob mentality and etc.

More or less this. Humans, technically speaking, really shouldn't like Elves... any Elves.
High Elves.

High Elves.
Very good point, though they technically aren't a playable race choice. Though I guess that doesn't really stop people from RPing them.

I'm not really sure what you mean by any elves considering that they have an entire subsection of elves working alongside them.
Night elves are the ORIGINAL elves... helfs and belfs are subsections, and the Wretched are a sub-subsection. Nelfs are the progenitor (sp) race for all elves.

So? You don't have to like your allies.

Any Third War soldier who went to Kalimdor, had a buddy who went to Kalimdor, or heard stories of going to Kalimdor, would really not like Night Elves. They turned soldiers into pin-cushions without the slightest of warnings and then continued to do so when Demons fell from the sky and undead broke the tree-line, making it so that one front was rushing into a never ending tide of blood and pain whilst the other was seeking to put an arrow in your back.

Think Vietnam with zombies and demons; not fun stuff.

Anyway, the Forsaken and the rest of the Horde (save blood elves) is sort of the "case in point" example with regards to not having to like or approve of your applies.
