Cannons are useless in Isle of Conquest

Since I've blacklisted Kotmogu and Silvershard Mines, just to avoid getting only those battlegrounds, I've had the misfortune of landing in a couple of Isle of Conquests.

At level 90, the cannons in Isle of Conquest are completely useless. The most damage I've seen them do on a vehicle was 30,000. That's on demolishers that have 3 million health. It would take 100 direct hits from a cannon to take down a single demolisher. There are usually 4 demolishers. Taking them all down would take roughly 400 hits.

Meanwhile, the most I've seen a cannon hit a player for was 10 - 12k health. With that kind of damage, you can't use a cannon to kill a Warrior with Second Wind, even if he just stands there.

There currently appears to be no reason whatsoever to man the cannons in IoC, and no reason for the opponent to kill the cannons. If you're manning them, that's good for the opponent, because you're wasting your time, in the first place.

Without cannons, there is very little viable defense that can be mounted against Demolishers in IoC. This makes IoC even more of a mindless zerg fest than it would be with functional cannons.

Regarding towers in IoC, yeah they're worthless. I don't really care except that there's an achieve I need that requires killing people and vehicles with tower cannons. So buff cannons.
At least you can hit the demos and if you get 3 cannons going and ground support you can make a difference. Allies 99% of the time go for glaives and maybe one will screw up and come within our cannon range. Mainly most Allies I have seen don't bother defending because they are able to bring Horde gates down fairly quickly with glaives and a few inside bombs long before horde can with demos, airship, and inside bombs
I can't take someone serious who blacklist temple and mines. They are the closest to death match and real PvP that you can get. WSG and Gilneas are the worst.

All of a sudden, I'm rather pleased I got those cannon achievements during Cataclysm.
Cannons are pretty worthless. However, I'd advocate keeping the same damage against demolishers. A bit of a buff against players would be in keeping - depending on the level of the players in the battle ground. Same for Strand of the Ancients or any other old battleground. Need a dps increase, or some pvp power to keep pace with character's gear and level gains.

More than that, they really need a range increase. They should be able to reach out to the glaives. That would even out the advantages both side always seem to possess.

Yea, the IoC cannons are not scaling accordily, they were good in Woltk and viable in Cata, now they are just crap... same for ancients BG, crap cannons aswell
Yeah, cannons are poor against demos, but they do reasonable AoE damage to players (whenever I play an ungeared toon, I usually man a cannon and top the DPS in the game XD). Have three cannons going to break down pockets of enemies to support your ground players beating up demos and/or demo escorts. It works fairly well used in that way.
With there still being achievements for killing things with the cannons, in both IoC and SotA, the cannons damage does need a serious buff. "Attack the demos yourself," to me is a pitiful excuse and line of thinking. Cannons were put there so you would have an advantage as a defender and they should do damage enough to kill cannons if they are not destroyed and kill players if they are not targeted or destroyed. I'm thinking since players now have 300-400k hp, they should do somewhere between 80-100k dmg on each blast, and they should ignore resilience. You don't move out of a cannons blast? you get 4 shot, I think it's a fair deal.
It's consistently pathetic how little Bliz does to balance their big BGs.

Isle and AV have both had huge issues over the years with mobs / vehicles having too much or too little health.

Alliance cannons in Isle used to not even be able to hit the tanks attacking the gate - now if anything it's worse cause people THINK they're doing something, but really they're just wasting time cause the damage is so poor.
Maybe increase the range and add a snare to the cannons? Like, 80% snare so the vehicle only goes at 20% speed. That way it's still up to people to kill said vehicles.

If you think AV has "very little PvP", you're doing it wrong.

The difference is, the PvP in AV is tied into strategic goals, such as back-capping towers.
Agreed. It'd be nice to see the cannons scaled up. It would add some variety to a (now) very boring battleground.
I blacklist Isle of Crapfest and Strand.
