Good ret comps

Paladin
I'm looking to start competitive pvp next patch but the only comps ik that work out well for rets are vanguards cleave, warrior pally shammy, and thug cleave with a ret. are there any others that are good? Just so ik if I have more options
There aren't any. Ret is totally unviable in pvp right now.
Eh, I wouldn't say totally. Ill argue til I'm blue in the face lol but this is for next patch anyway
I'm gonna try WW-Ret and Ret-warlock, both with a R. Druid. Wish me luck!

Your best bet on live is to play with a Feral or BM and I'm sure these will still be good next patch. Rogue will be good with anything, and DK-Ret should make a nice comeback seeing as how both are being buffed. I think there's some potential with caster comps now that Ret has an interrupt, snare, and Aura Mastery. Honestly I suggest you try what sounds fun to you -- no reason to pigeonhole yourself into what's worked in previous expansions. All you require are friends who are willing to be creative.

I wouldn't give such optimistic advice if I didn't think there was potential. MoP Ret has a pretty damn cool design and finally in 5.2 it should no longer be underpowered.
I like ret with a rogue or hunter. Both bursty classes with escapes from slows and control. Played right it van be good
Ret and paramedic is the only way to survive in arenas

No longer underpowered? Where are we getting damage from?

We're getting FoL buffs, glyph of blessed life works without seal of insight, light's hammer gives a pulsing snare, and HoS removes harmful magical effects. That with the nerfs to other classes makes rets more "desirable" (not sure if that's the proper word) in PvP.
In 2s I have had my best luck this season as hunter with a ret. I concentrate on ccing the healer and he concentrates on helping me burst and providing offheals, bops, sacs, etc. It's really, really hard for teams to survive our initial burst and cc, and if they do we still have the ability to recover and play the longer game that wouldn't be an option if I were partnered with, say, a warrior.

It's a fun comp to play as well- none of the long snooze-fests you get playing with a healer.
Ret hunter and Ret mage are my fav 2s combos. Its been a while since I did 3s though so I don't remember what I used.

Damage was never the problem. In arena, the issue is survivability. The hybrid PvP power buff, FoL buff, HoSac buff, and Glyph of Templar's Verdict buff all help in that regard.

As for RBG's, still the only way to get a group will be to play with friends. Oh well, one for two ain't bad.
