Why didn't the Draenei stop using magic?

Story Forum
Neither, really. He just wanted to study a form of magic that was forbidden.

Maybe it's just those damn dirty elves that have issues with arcane.

To draw that conclusion, you'd have to ignore the many demonic races that existed before the Legion who were steadily corrupted by their addiction to magic into using fel.
The Dangers of Magic Abuse

By Ilustriel Greenleaf

Stop! Think about what you're doing. Is arcane magic really right for you?

Facts:
- Magic is a dangerous force that leads to the deaths of millions each year.
- Arcane magic is highly addictive. Once you start practicing magic, it's almost impossible to stop.
- Learning simple arcane spells can seem innocent at first, but it's often a gateway to harder and harder spells. In worst cases, you could even end up addicted to fel magic.
- Casting magic during childbirth can cause significant risks to the health of your children.
- Magic abuse can lead to violence and necromancy.
- Arcane magic is not cool.

That's why we've started the M.A.R.E. (Magic Abuse Resistance Education) program to educate people everywhere about the dangers of magic abuse. Our mission is to show the world that it's okay to live without magic. You can find fun elsewhere, like with flowers or basketweaving. Doesn't that sound exciting?

In addition, our program helps recovering magic addicts re-integrate themselves into society. In the nearly 6 days of our existence, our program has established a very strong relationship with the Priestess of Elune and that Cenarion Circle. These organizations are capable and willing to help you get on the path to a speedy recovery. Remember, it's never too late to learn to love yourself!

Contemporary Azeroth is full of unique challenges that make it very difficult to maintain a safe and magic-free lifestyle. We're here to help you find that safe, comfortable path. Dozens of people have already benefited from our lifestyle enriching magic-alternatives. Won't you be the next?

This is a flier from an Elf. Hard to say how much of it is propaganda and how much is true.

It looks like parody of anti-drug organizations more than something to be taken seriously.

Also off-topic, anyone frigging know how to keep a name in someone's quote? When I try to cut it, it mysteriously disappears.

Just hit the quote button that shows up when you mouse over a post. The button that right beside the "Reply" button.

Edit: Nvm. Mine are disappearing now too.

Plus with how many times the Draenei have nearly been wiped out I think it's safe to assume that most Draenei are pretty young. They were born into the current light-worshiping society, not the original Argus-arcane one.

They were only nearly wiped out once.

Actually, twice that we know of. First on Argus, when they escaped the Legion. Then on Draenor, by the Orcs. That doesn't mean there were not other times. They were in space a long time.

That's exactly what it is, but I like it.
Because the Draenei aren't paranoid. Arcane is a force to be reckoned with. Self-control is the strength over magic's negative side effects. self-control the Draenei have, Pandaren have, and many Night Elves have as well. The other thing to is, just because you stop and outlaw it, doesnt mean everyone else will

They weren't nearly wiped out, just most of their species joined the Legion. The Legion never caught up with them until Draenor.
