Anyone using the new hand of purity in PvP?

Paladin
Since it got a 10% dmg reduction on it in 5.2, and I noticed that you can cast it on yourself while stunned (haven't tried it while feared) does anyone think it could be a viable alternative to clemency in that talent tier?
I don't believe so, even with the nerf they gave hand of sacrifice. Two hand of freedoms and two melee bubbles is still pretty critical for both arenas and rated BGs. I suppose there are situations where hand of purity would be better in a like... dueling situation, or if you were an incredibly selfish person that only did random BGs (about 50% of retadins anyways lol) but it's still not as good.

EDIT: I may have misspoke calling what they did to hand of sacrifice a nerf. It's truly only a nerf when fighting shadow priests or affliction warlocks. Everyone else it would seem, it helps you instead. Main point still stands of course, having 2 of each of those amazing CDs is better than one hand of purity.
Lol I see, I just liked that I had some kind of damage mitigation I could use when I'm stuck in a stun.... If it works when feared even better since you'll be eating dots and/or bleeds too which it works really good on and it's cool down is pretty low.... One more defensive option is never a bad thing..

Really! Going to test this out asap, pretty interesting. But yea, like Uri said, Clemency is ridiculously good.

You can always use Devotion Aura before you Sac off UA. If you remove Haunt or Fear, totally worth it.
Purity can indeed be cast while stunned, on oneself or allies.
Can someone please explain to me what Hand of Sac does when you use it on a target that is fighting a spriest or lock?

I've never played either of those classes and I've never played a class or spec that has defensive dispels so I am unaware of the consequences of dispelling willy-nilly.

Hand of Sacrifice will now clear all magic effects on the targetted ally. For example, if your healer is feared, use Hand of Sacrifice on him and he will be free. It works kind of like using your Every Man for Himself, except it only works with magic effects (Example: Fear, Polymorph, Hammer of Justice, etc.) and not physical effects. (Example: Shockwave, Kidney Shot, etc.) As well as you're casting it on them. Since you're new to defensive dispels, I would look up what exactly you can dispel, as well as what you should dispel.

Hope I helped.

In case of Spriest: Target has vampiric touch, you sac the spriest's target and you get feared but you still are fabulous.
In case of lock: Target has Haunt, UA, Corruption, and whatever other magic effects the target have, you sac him, you get silenced, but hey! The target has no debuffs and the lock needs to cast haunt again, and you're still fabulous.

This is not to say you should never dispel UA or VT. Just gotta get a feel for it.
...this would explain how much more I've been getting feared and silenced in Bg's since the patch lol.

I still use Sac as a CC break for myself but now I usually make a point of throwing it on people with magic debuffs.

Thanks a lot guys, this helps big time.

You might also be getting hit with this which was redesigned for 5.2:

It's a horror effect, but has the Fear icon. And the CD is short as hell.
Ahh, yes I'd heard about that one. I didn't realize it was horror effect.

They sure didn't reduce the amount of CC for 5.2 yeesh.

This is the most important stuff to know, I switched from ret pvp to holy near the end of last patch and I suspected that something I was dispelling was causing fear. If there's a list of what "Holy Pallies need to know!" that should be on it.

Haha, also if there's a list, please send me to it!
