WoW Launcher Stuck on Updating

Technical Support
Hello,

My launcher loads when ever I open it but then it stops about 2/3 till completion, no matter how many times I close the launcher then re-open, the same thing happens.

Please help!
Kurositsujji

The majority of the stuck at 2/3 issue end up having to uninstall/reinstall the game to resolve it, but we can try a few things to see if they help.

Try this:

1. Make sure that Windows is set to show hidden files.

Here's how to do that:

-Windows Vista/7

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Show-hidden-files

-Windows 8

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/show-hidden-files-in-windows-8/

2. Navigate to the C:\ProgramData folder and delete the Battle.net folder.
3. Navigate to the WoW folder and delete the "Updates" folder.
4. Launch WoW as an admin by right clicking on the launcher and selecting "Run as admin".

Let me know what happens.

Alright, Dankorii.

So after following the instructions and opening the WoW Launcher, it still stopped 2/3 till completion. I'll try uninstalling the game and re-installing.
After I reinstalled, the launcher stopped loading. Now it's stuck at 0%.
I mean Setup, not launcher.

What security programs do you have installed?

Make sure that your Windows Secondary Logon service is enabled.

Here's a support article that will help with that:

Dankorii,
Nothing really happened when I followed the instructions.
Kurositsujji

Another program may be interfering. Try running a selective startup to get around this. Please be aware that running while in this mode can potentially disable any security programs you may have running.

Hold the Windows key on your keyboard and press the letter 'R'. In the Run field type "msconfig" and hit Enter.
In the General tab:

1. Choose Selective Startup
2. Disable (uncheck) Load startup items
3. Click OK and Reboot

To undo selective startup, just recheck Load startup items.

I have the same issue and have tried deleting the above listed files. I had to do this to get D3 to install as well and it worked then. But now I do this and im still stuck at updating around 70%. Ill give up for tonight and try it once or twice more.

If I do have to reinstall what folders should I save for all of my add-on settings? I really do want to have to spend hours getting all of my settings the way I want them to be again.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Update:
Have deleted listed folders above - no go
Ran MSconfig to NOT run start up programs. - No go
Ran MSconfig to do above AND not run any service that was not MS, Intel or Nvidia (no virus program, updaters (adobe, chrome, apple) etc. - No go

Last chance will be to TRY to re-install on Saturday when I have more time.

Thing is I didn't up update or install any programs since I played with no issues last night. I'm wondering what the issue can be other wise.
Dankorii,

The launcher still does not work....

Dankorii

I have Microsoft Security Essentials.
Dankorii,

The installer finally worked when I went on Youtube, Haha.

MSE shouldn't be causing any issues. What version of Windows are you running?

Also, check this article to make sure that you got rid of all previous WoW files: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/world-of-warcraft-uninstall-instructions

Here's how I fixed my problem. This is the exact same problem as you.

You need to make invisible file visible.

Go in C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent. Go in the folder Agent.XXXX where XXXX is the highest number (in my case, it was Agent.1675). Copy Agent.exe from that folder and replace the one in C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent.

Start the launcher and voila! Hope it helps!
Tried this and it still didnt' work. I can load the game via the wow.exe app but not the launcher.

I finally got it to load up. For some reason while this was going on my WeatherBug Gadget on the Destop would not load either. After installing and running the NeverWinter MMO Client the WeatherBug app came back online. So I thought Id give the WOW launcher another chance. It loaded with an error so I just grabbed the deleted folder from the trash, renamed the current battlenet folder and put the old one on its place. VOILA it loaded with no issues.

Very strange all around.
Dakorii,

I have Windows 7 on my computer.
The game worked for 2 day now, but I tried opening it this morning and the game launcher wouldn't work.

What happened when you tried the launcher?
