Cover songs

Movies, TV and Entertainment
Easy and quick topic. Favorite cover songs.

I have a new favorite and I wanted to make a topic in celebration

Which is weird because I'm honestly not a huge fan of Metallica. ( Blasphemy I know ) And yet I have quite a few covers of their music on my itunes. Mostly Apocalyptica, this cover however is my new fav mostly because I had no idea it existed. I found it by accident thanks to the youtube "related videos" bar. The song starts at around fifty seven seconds in.
I followed that link thinking, "Please don't be Metallica's cover of 'Loverman.'"

I think my favorite is still Nomeansno's a capella cover of Dead Kennedys' "Forward to Death."
Love covers. Especialy Metallica covers. Thanks for that.

Some of my faves:
1. Plays Metallica By Four Cellos - Apocalyptica
2. Rock and Roll (Led Zep IV) - Jerry Lee Lewis
3. Immigrant Song - Trent Reznor, Karen O
4. Bad Moon Rising - Rasputina
5. Stone cold Crazy (by Queen) - Metallica
I guess they would be considered covers but Richard Cheese has some awesome stuff.

Apocalyptica has awesome stuff as do the northern kings.

4. Bad Moon Rising - Rasputina

I don't think I've heard that one. I liked their cover of "Barracuda," although it really did make clear that Melora isn't even a fraction of the singer that Ann Wilson is.
Adrenaline mob came out with a great cd of all covers called Coverta.
Pretty much any song Playing For Change does.
5. Therion - Summer Night City (ABBA cover)
4. Van Canto - Rebellion (Grave Digger cover)
3. Rhapsody - Power of thy Swrd (Manowar cover)
2. Leave's Eyes - To France (Mike Oldfield) -
1. Nightwish - Phantom of the Opera (I prefer it over the original sountrack)

Made by a great artist coming from Newgrounds. I love Newgrounds.
the Puppini Sisters do "retro" style covers of modern songs

i also enjoy nearly all of Al Yankovic's parody songs
No Hands by Danny Vola.

There's something about a white dude doing an acoustic version of a terrible rap song thats just hilarious. It actually sounds good too.
Wicked Games by Cœur de pirate.

It's probably because I heard it before the original, but I dunno. I prefer it.
Van Canto - Rebellion (Grave Digger cover)

Had to download that, thanks.

Thought of another: Scorpions - Ruby Tuesday(Stones Cover)

New fav. I didn't see it on the youtube account. ( Stupid weak eyes )

Now this song sounds like the perfect song to get "pity drunk" to. Just to get hammered and hug people. Sometimes we all want that.

( Also it's cute how the singer says Creep and Weirdo. Sneaky accent. )
Devo - EZ Listening Disc (and yes, the whole thing)

Heartbreak Hotel - Stan Freberg

The Great Pretender - Stan Freberg

Ring of Fire - Frank Zappa

Robot Chicken: Star Wars Theme

Hurdy Gurdy Man - Butthole Surfers

What I can think of at the moment.

EASILY. it's how you properly do a cover. Enough of the original vibe to keep some familiarity, enough of the new to make it feel different, but awesome all around and does the song justice.
Ring of Fire - Frank Zappa

I always liked the Social Distortion version
POD did a cover of the song Eyes of a Stranger by the Canadian band, The Payolas. Worth checking out:

Mudvayne cover of King of Pain by The Police:
My all time favorite cover is Johnny Cash's version of the Nine Inch Nail's song 'Hurt"

Persia White covering Billie Holiday's Strange Fruit which was an anti-slavery song.
