Same fix.

You just use TextEdit instead of Notepad.
Same problem here. Keeps on looping and my wow is still on 5.2 not 5.3 but the launcher says its up to date. is there any way to force patch WOW?

tried adding those on config.wtf still stuck.
Try this guys :

1) Close down the Launcher

2) Open config.wtf from the WTF folder of the wow folder

3) Add the following line :

SET patchlist "http://enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch"

4) Make sure there isn't any other "SET patchlist" lines in that file.

5) Save

6) Open from the launcher.

Worked like a charm!

The question is... how did the enBG patch setting get in my config???
A bad SET patchlist entry, eh? Odd. Thanks for the info, all.
Success!
None of these fixes are working for me.

having a similar problem, If y'all can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated
I am willing to bet people that are still having issues are not removing the SET patchlist that's already there, only tacking this on to the end.
mine was set to gb, I changed it to us and my launcher is still looping and avg is also flagging some trojan horse in the wow folder now.
still looping for me :(

Check that file it may say GB instead of US and that should resolve said problem

I have done that and it is still looping

EDIT: on the new pc I have in the living room this does not work but the second I tried it on the older laptop i have it worked fine, so I have no idea why this does not work on my new desktop pc.
hi i have tried everything suggested here and i mean everything. even putting SET patchlist "http://enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch" in config.wtf doesnt work for me, and yes i checked if there was another patchlist there and there wasnt before putting the new one in.

launcher keeps going in a loop for me, i click play, and then the launcher closes and a new one opens. rinse and repeat

help!
now i click play on the launcher and it says failed to apply patch. please try again later. if this issue persists you may need to reinstall or contact technical support.
i have limited internet! i cant reinstall!
This seems to have fixed a long term issue for me, where the launcher appeared to get stuck updating itself. Just a note to the other mac users out there. The default app for opening config.wtf is Terminal, but I wasn't able to edit the file with that, so I opened it with a text editor. I used TextMate, but TextEdit or similiar should all be fine. Just copied and pasted the line to the end.
Tried all of this and suggestions from other threads....getting mad now. HOW DO I FIX THIS????
I was able to get the Launcher working but now it tells me all the servers are down? Same for my fiancee. We checked the Realm Status page and all servers show as UP.
I'm having the server issue as well. The realm list shows but all of them are red.
