If you experience issues patching any of our games through the game launcher or through the Battle.net App, manually patching Agent—our update helper program—may resolve the issue. To manually update Agent, follow the steps below:

Windows

  1. Download the Agent standalone patch files.
  2. Close any running Blizzard games and launchers (including the Battle.net App), and wait at least 30 seconds.
  3. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to bring up your Task Manager, and check the Processes tab to be sure Agent.exe is not still running.
  4. Extract the standalone patch files to the following location. If you can't see the files listed below, show hidden files and folders first.
    1. Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8Windows 10: C:\ProgramData\Battle.net
    2. Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Battle.net
  5. Confirm that you want to merge and replace the files.
  6. Start the Battle.net App or game launcher again and try to patch normally.

Mac

  1. Download the Agent standalone patch files.
  2. Quit any running Blizzard games and launchers (including the Battle.net App) and wait at least 30 seconds.
  3. Check your Activity Monitor to be sure Agent is not still running.
  4. Use Archive Utility to extract the standalone patch files to /Users/Shared/Battle.net
  5. Confirm that you want to merge and replace the files.
  6. Start the Battle.net App or game launcher again and try to patch normally.
