We can assist updating the name registered on a Battle.net account in the following cases:
- You have changed your legal name
- You are a parent or legal guardian who wants to take ownership of your minor child's account
- You have reached the age of majority in your country and want to update the name of your account originally registered to your parent's name
- You are claiming the account of a deceased relative
It is not possible to change the name on a Battle.net account in other circumstances.
Supporting Documentation
During the Name Change process, we may require supporting documentation. The needed documentation will vary depending on which scenario you are in need of assistance. You can choose to provide one of the documents listed below per each case, although in some cases more than one document could be required for the purpose of changing your name.
- You have changed your legal name - To verify your legal name change, we accept any document which we trust is legitimate (not forged) that demonstrates the name change by showing the account holder's original name and the new name. For example: marriage certificate, divorce certificate, adoption papers, deed polls, court-order, etc.
- You are a parent or legal guardian who wants to take ownership of your minor child's account - To verify the kinship between parent/guardian and child, we accept any piece of information that shows the relationship and which we trust is legit (not forged) such as (but not restricted to) birth certificate or family register.
- You have reached the age of majority in your country and want to update the name of your account originally registered to your parent's name - In certain countries, children under a specific age cannot own a Battle.net account. To verify the kinship between parent/guardian and child & to ensure you have reached the age of majority for your country, we accept any piece of information that shows the relationship and which we trust is legit (not forged) such as (but not restricted to) birth certificate or family register.
- You are claiming the account of a deceased relative - To transfer ownership of an account from a deceased account owner, we accept the death certificate.
Note: When submitting documentation, only show the information relevant to your issue, such as first/last name, address, date of birth, etc. For example, if you are submitting a Birth Certificate in the case of a parent/child account transfer, we only need the parent's name, child's name, and Date of Birth.
