The developers of World of Warcraft have implemented many functions within the user interface of World of Warcraft to help locate quests within the game. Below are some recommendations to help locate quests within the various versions of World of Warcraft.
The War Within and Cataclysm Classic
- The in-game maps have quest markers indicating the next quest in a zone.
- If you have out-leveled the zone, make sure all quests are showing by clicking the magnifying glass on your mini-map and checking the Low Level Quests box. This makes markers for quests show up on the world map, mini-map, and on NPCs, even if they are irrelevant for your character's level.
- If you have Low Level Quests tracked, but still cannot see any zone quests on the map and do not have the zone achievement, you should perform a user interface reset to resolve any possible display or interface issues.
- Some quests are started from items you pick up. If the quest is abandoned you may have to find the item again to start the quest line.
- Some quests are started via an NPC that follows your character around. If you leave the area the NPC is located in, you may have to return to that area to start the quest chain again.
The War Within
- Zidormi is an NPC in a variety of different zones in Azeroth. She allows you to change the phasing of the zone she is located in. This may cause some quests issues if you are in the wrong phase. Speaking to her can correct these issues.
- Your faction's major city contains a variety of different quests for each expansion. This can cause phasing issues. Please reference the Can't See NPCs in Orgrimmar and Stormwind article for quest phasing issues in these cities.
- If you are struggling to locate a quest, you may wish to use a third party resource or guide to find quests you may be missing in the zone, such as the Wowhead Quest Completion Tracker.
