If you experience an installation error with Warcraft II, Warcraft III, Diablo, Diablo II, or StarCraft, follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

  1. Programs running in the background can interfere with the game. Close any running background applications.
  2. Certain malicious software can lock down necessary data that the game needs to run. Run a virus scan.
  3. You may not have the proper permissions to install the game. Create a new administrator account and try again.
  4. A CRC or File read error indicates that our system cannot read from the disc. Download the game from Battle.net Account Management to address this issue. Downloads are available for StarCraft, Diablo II, and Warcraft III once the appropriate game key has been added to your Battle.net account.

Note: After installing the game, download and install the latest patches. You should only start the game once it is fully up to date.
