Common Problems
- I can't use in game chat
- I received a Code 3 error when using chat
- There was a problem sending the game chat message
- When playing Diablo IV, I can't send private messages or whispers to other players. I can receive their messages just fine, but cannot send them back
If you can't use the Diablo IV chat check the following to see if they are causing the issue.
Chat Disabled
You can completely enable or disable the chat through your in-game chat settings.
To enable chat, right click on the chat window, select Settings, and click the Enable Chat button at the bottom.
Chat, and other social features, can also be disabled through the Battle.net Account Settings page. Check your Privacy & Communication settings to make sure chat is enabled for the level of contact youd like.
Parental Controls Restrictions
If you are under the age of majority, your account may be restricted by parental controls. Your parent may need to Update your Parental Control Settings.
Chat Privileges Temporarily Suspended
You will receive an error if you try to speak while silenced. We will silence your account if you are reported multiple times for Spam or Abusive Chat.
If none of the above are causing your issue, reach out for assistance in the Diablo 4 forums.
Chat access will be blocked until profanity filter is initialized
This message usually means Blizzard account's Social settings do not permit in-game chat, and the player may bypass this my enabling profanity filter in the in-game chat settings. Some posts of Reddit suggest this message may also pop-up when using proxy / VPN.
