I finished the quest Hallowfall Fishing Derby but Captain Oathmyt was gone by the time I completed the quest.Why does it say I failed the Fishing Derby quest when I was fishing?
The Hallowfall Fishing Derby quest has a time limit of 1 hour when it can be completed. After 1 hour ends from accepting the quest, the quest will count as failed, so it must be both completed and turned in within the time limit.
If the quest is not completed within that time, it cannot be attempted again within the same week.
