During technical troubleshooting, it is sometimes necessary to adjust your power management settings.

Windows 10

Power Management

  1. Click Start.
  2. Type Power Options and press Enter.
  3. Select High Performance.

Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows Vista

Power Management

  1. Click Start (Windows Key + Q in Windows 8), then select Control Panel.
  2. Click System and Security.
  3. Click Power Options.
  4. Select High Performance.

Windows XP

Power Management

  1. Click Start, then select Control Panel.
  2. Switch to Classic View by clicking on the option on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. Click the Power button to access the system power settings.

Different systems have different settings available in the Power Management section of the computer. We suggest choosing settings that disable these options, such as Never or Always On, but you may have to test different ones.

Note: If you have a laptop, adjusting your power settings to high performance will drastically reduce your battery life.
