This error is usually caused when a permissions issue or another program prevents the Blizzard Launcher from creating a folder on your computer. Follow the steps below to resolve the error.

Windows

  1. Run the game in Administrator Mode to address many installation, patching, networking, and start-up errors.
  2. Programs running in the background can interfere with the Battle.net Update Agent. Try closing background applications.
  3. Security software may interfere with the Battle.net Update Agent. Disable or temporarily uninstall any security programs.
  4. You may not have the proper permissions. Create a new administrator account and try again.

Mac

  1. Run the game in Administrator Mode to address many installation, patching, networking, and start-up errors.
  2. Programs running in the background can conflict with the Battle.net Update Agent. Try closing background applications.
  3. Run the Repair Disk utility to resolve hard drive issues.
Advanced Troubleshooting
  1. Try moving files to the Applications directory to allow the application to run with full permissions.
  2. The Shared folder holds information for Blizzard titles for all the computer’s users. Repair this folder’s permissions to resolve this issue.
  3. You may not have the proper permissions to write to this file. Create a new administrator account.
