Battle.net Lockups and Crash Errors

If you experience a crash with a blue or black screen error message, a crash to your desktop, or if your computer locks up while in Battle.net, follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

Windows

  1. Wait until Agent.exe disappears from Task Manager and relaunch Battle.net. If the crash persists, restart your computer. 
  2. Battle.net requires an up-to-date operating system in order to run properly. Run Windows Update to make sure you're using the most recent version.
  3. Battle.net requires up-to-date drivers to run smoothly. Update your drivers often.
  4. Programs running in the background can interfere with Battle.net. Close any running background applications.
Advanced Troubleshooting
  1. Hard disk errors can cause crashes and lockups. Run Check disk and defragment your hard drive to try to repair any bad sectors.
  2. Crashes and lockups may be caused by problems with your computer's physical memory. Run a memory scan to rule out this issue.
  3. If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall your current copy of Battle.net.

Mac

  1. Wait until Agent disappears from Activity Monitor and re-launch Battle.net. If the crash persists restart your computer. 
  2. Our games require an up-to-date operating system to run properly. Run Software Update to make sure you're using the most recent version.
  3. Reset Folder & File Permissions for Battle.net and Repair Disk Permissions to make sure there is no conflict between the latest OS update and your permissions.
  4. Programs running in the background can conflict with Battle.net. Try closing background applications.
Advanced Troubleshooting
  1. Run the Apple Hardware Test to ensure that there are no physical problems with your hard drive.
  2. If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall your current copy of Battle.net.
