If you are unable to connect, or if you are experiencing high latency or frequent disconnects while playing the game, follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

Windows

Before trying any of the following steps, check the Service Status page (World of Warcraft) or the BlizzardCS Twitter. If the service is offline, try again later. If the servers are available, or if your game doesn't have a Service Status page, continue troubleshooting.

  1. If you're having trouble with World of Warcraft, try resetting your User Interface (UI).
  2. Your router may become flooded with data and drop your connection to your ISP. Reset your network devices to address this.
  3. Incorrect DNS (Domain Name System) configurations may cause high latency or disconnections for all internet connections on your computer. Try flushing the DNS.
  4. Outdated hardware drivers can affect connection stability. Make sure all of your computer's hardware drivers are up-to-date.
  5. You must have a stable internet connection to play the game. Try optimizing your internet connection.
  6. Programs running in the background can interfere with the game. Close any running background applications.
Advanced Troubleshooting
  1. Outdated operating systems may contribute to connection issues. Try updating Windows.
  2. Check your Windows Host File for any modifications that may cause connection issues.
  3. Issues with your network card, the hardware that handles your computer's network connection, may cause connectivity issues. Try troubleshooting your network card.
  4. Check your network configuration to find any issues with your firewall, proxy, router, or port settings.
  5. Security software may interfere with the Update Agent. Disable or temporarily uninstall any security programs.
