This error occurs when the Blizzard Launcher can't read recently downloaded patch files. This may be caused by hard drive corruption, missing game files, or corrupt Battle.net Tools files. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

Windows

  1. If you're using wireless internet, try switching to an optimized wired connection.
  2. Run ScanDisk and defragment your hard drive to try to repair any bad sectors.
  3. You may experience errors when Battle.net Update Agent files are missing or corrupt. Delete the Battle.net Tools folder to have the Battle.net Update Agent automatically re-create necessary files.
  4. Secondary logon must be set to Automatic in order for our games to run properly. See our Windows Secondary Logon Service article for assistance.

Mac

  1. If you're using wireless internet, try switching to an optimized wired connection.
  2. Run the Repair Disk utility to try to repair any bad hard drive sectors.
  3. You may experience errors when Battle.net Update Agent files are missing or corrupt. Delete the Battle.net Tools folder to have the Battle.net Update Agent automatically recreate necessary files.

If the issue persists, uninstall your current copy of the game and then reinstall the game client.
